Eddy Brickell said "drop me in the shallow water before I get too deep". Well concerning this reveiw, it is already too late.

Goodness, this show was the sacred cow for me. During the 2nd set I had the unending experience that the veil of maya was lifted from my eyes and that life felt lived in vanity. This is no judgement on anybody else furthur than my own skin, but my ~attempt~ at inquiry. In fact, this is NOT a judgement at all. It is what it is. But ego in the office and painting the house and fixing the driveway, and cutting the grass, etc... BUT, at the same exact time, for me, life is sacred with it's practical tasks (No more coffee this morning for me this morning, I'm cut off!!!). Swam in the Atlantic Ocean moments after the show which is a minute-and-a-half walk from the venue, straight out the doors and across the street. The truth is I ~thought~ I would swim, but screamed when my big toe felt the 55 degree NH water. I sat in the sand as I watched 2 younger women dive right into the frigid ocean water and frolic around. oh well. The moon was goldenly orange with a thin ring of cloud wrapped around it, hanging directly over the ocean horizon in a straight line from the venue. Okay one more cup of coffee: "I am the cresent moon hung up over the the gate to the festival." - Rumi

Eddy Brickell was right. But this is the impact on me from this DSO band (it's happended 1 or 2 times before after other shows).

The woman who looked at my id on the way in told me that 1963 was a good year to be born. I joked with her how my father always joked with me and asked me why I couldn't be born 8 days earlier so he could get a tax deduction for 1962.:) I told the woman putting on my wrist bracelet, that I always replied to my father (may he rest in peace) I would try harder in a future birth.

Anyway, January 8th, 1979 was my 16th birthday...I was in NYC with my aunt at the time. The night before, January 7th 1979, was the GD's first show at MSG and my first grateful dead show at a tender age of 15 years, 364 days. I knew the Dead were cool and I knew this was the band that did Truckin'.

Anyway, sunny skies here at the waters edge of Hampton Beach. Shortly I'm going to once again lower the veil of maya (if it hasn't already on its own) and go shopping in the gift shops for my beautiful wife and daughter.......UNTIL TONIGHT! Lastly, I can't thank enough the band and crew for what they do....but now is an excellent time - Thank you!!!

Love, peace, blessings and kindness.

WOW!!!

What a great show.

Loved everything about it.

Here's my song-by-song review.

Please note:

It's just one fan's view and I respect all others. Not looking for any controversy.

I offer it with only love and respect in my heart:

Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo (always a solid start, very welled played)

Franklin's Tower (what a treat! joyous, knew we were in for a special night, sensed late 70s)

New Minglewood Blues (solid, high energy)

Candyman (nice vocals and playing)

Me And My Uncle -> (solid)

Big River (solid)

Friend Of The Devil (a classic, really well-played, a surprising set highlight for me)

It's All Over Now (fine, end really rocked)

Brown Eyed Women (another winner)

Lazy Lightnin' -> (a classic for me, I really love the transition jam and Supplication)

Supplication

5 stars for stellar playing, high energy, great venue.

Set 2:

Scarlet Begonias -> (great, as always)

Fire On The Mountain (EPIC)

Samson And Delilah (great, and I really love a non set opener Samson)

Terrapin Station -> (great surprise, always well played, preferred it to Sunrise and From the Heart of Me, which were often in that spot in the late 70s)

Playing In The Band -> (this was a REAL great surprise and treat! Got my Lisa wail)

Drums -> (short and no real space)

The Other One -> (powerful, tribal, great Kevin)

Wharf Rat -> (brought me to tears, a classic)

Good Lovin' (best version I've heard in years)

E: U.S. Blues (great way to end the show)

Filler: Satisfaction (high energy, totally rocking, great singing from Lisa, totally Satisfying to me)

5 STARS!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, DSO!!!

Great coincidences here Frank

January 8th 1979 was my 11th birthday and I felt a connction to this show from the first note which was confirmed when I found out it was first performed on my birthday.

Elvis might have asked for a Promised land but I was happy for the setlist as it was.
