My last Grateful Dead show. I'm sure DSO made it strong, alive, and fresh, much different then the real show 14 years ago. Wish I could've seen the re-creation

Ugh. Just our luck. Why play a 1995 show?? It was played well but I lost interest fairly early into the show. Some many better choices. Burlington deserves better.

At the end of the day it's just songs. I actually thought the set list was pretty good. We play Burlington a lot and with a smaller stage we are limited to what we can do there. It was a chance to play different songs instead of the the same ones all the time. Every night is different and tonight is no exception. Sorry you had a bad time!

Wow... what a egocentric statement... Burlington deserves better... Why do you think Burlington deserves something more so then any other city in America? Pretty harsh words in my opinion.

I think the setlist looks pretty damned good if you ask me. Since Vermont is so almighty, maybe the Grateful Dead did you wrong as well back in 95 with this show..

if you knew this band at all you would know that it doesn't matter what they play, they tear it up. If you are going to let preconceived notions of what is good and bad effect your experience then you are bound to be upset. Go in with an open mind, dance, and that's all there is to it. and really, why does burlington deserve better? that's just a sad statement. I hate to have everyone here berate you but when you post like that, what do you expect?

I am looking forward to the casino ballroom and melody tent and whatever the band chooses to play.

peace,

aaron

You shouldn't have to apologize to someone who didn't care for the setlist! We all have our favorites, and it's part of the joy of live music, right? Sometimes it rocks your world, sometimes its just ok. I'll say that there's nothing about 95 shows I like other than Unbroken Chain, but the musicianship was stellar as usual.

Thanks for the show, see you next time.

To me, the point revolves around the fact that there is nothing necessarily different about a 95 show than a 78 show. It's a setlist of songs--that's all it is, and this band is going to play those songs influenced by how they feel in the moment. Sure you may hear a different Garcia ballad (Days or Standing versus a Rat or Peter ect...) and you are probably not going to hear a 20 min Playin in a 80 show versus a 72 show as well as hearing some different songs, like Esau and Day Job for mid 80s and So Many Roads or Lazy River Road for the 90s (you get the point), HOWEVER, depending where they are at in that moment, you are just a likely to hear the greatest played show of the year for a 95 show than a 78 show--the chances are no more skewed towards one year versus the other.

In conclusion, the year has absolutely NOTHNING to do with the show--it's all about the band and what they are up to on that night--at least that's how I see it. That's one of the reasons you can't tell anything from the set list for these guys. For example, that Delfest second set didn't necessarily look incredible on paper but, from all reports, it was incredible in reality.

I understand that many people just aren't going to get it because of the recreation aspect of this whole thing and I guess, at some point, everyone in the know should stop wasting their time explaining...but that time has not come yet.

lafoo,

DSO is about a much spectrum. I'll give you some space to say that if you only see 1 or 2 shows a year, you may be disappointed if they don't play the setlist you were hoping. If possible, see more shows. Also, Vermont has seen some absolutely spectacular shows!

As mentioned, it is just a song list.

Also as mentioned, dance !

Peace,

Frank

anyone there last night????

and I wish I would have been there for that 95 recreation! I would imagine the energy there was pretty strong, as it always is in Burlington. Personally, I love getting the 90's shows....don't get them too often and the setlists are always a little different. Although....I'd take anything any night really..... its all good.

I don't agree. Yes, it is a setlist of songs but there are many differences and individual tastes may gravitate toward those differences. Personally, I love the dimension Lisa adds to their shows so, for example, a '77 Music Never Stopped is, for me, dramatically different than an '87 MNS. I also prefer the piano over the organ so that's another (often substantial difference). And, of course there's style. China>Rider is a great pairing regardless of era. But the '73>'74 style with the unique transitional jam is, for me, the peak version of those songs. '73 Here Comes Sunshine is another example.

That said, I'm one of those who thinks it's a blessing this band is doing such a great job of keeping this music alive. I may prefer certain eras, but I always have a great time regardless of what they play. I thought it was all over in '95. I was wrong. And I'm quite thankful for that.

Personally, I was psyched to see a '95 show...mainly because it UNQUESTIONABLE that DSO gave it energy that simply wasn't there in 1995, especially Jerry.

Highgate, SLC, Seattle, Shoreline, etc were all a terrible disappointment for me at the time...and if you'd care to disagree, just give the archives a listen before you try to say different.

Monday at HG certainly was not disappointing.

Bravo DSO!!

Tuesday was a BLAST! btw

any fillers ?
Its kinda shitty when a bum post from a disappointed fan gets so many replies and a simple question about the filler songs gets ignored :(
