MHeyne
SO MANY ROADS Catching a So Many Roads in the filler rules big time, especially after a covered show with that setlist. I am actually of the opinion that they could should close some original setlist shows with this tune (like a Dew). Question: Did John really wail during the vocal jam at the end? I love that shit. HaveYouEverSmoked
Question: Did John really wail during the vocal jam at the end? I love that shit. Words can't describe how good this tune was played last night. Might be the coolest thing I have seen DSO do. I don't think I have ever left a DSO show so satisfied and happy. Going into this show, I had a good feeling we were in for something from '76 but was quietly hoping for something other than 70's. First thing I noticed when I looked at the stage was that there was 2 drums set up, a mic for lisa, but no mics for Kevin or Rob B. Knowing exactly what that meant, the Promised Land opener was funny if nothing else. Not many people were inside for the opener, as the band went on shortly after 7:30. I was going through the motions a little bit for TLEO and Cassidy, but Peggy O got everything going for me. The playing picked up as the set went along and it was nice to be able to retreat to the designated cig area to puff a large doob or two. It was only fitting that I came back inside only to be floored by another stellar rendition of LLR by the future Senator. Music Never Stopped, never a favorite of mine, rocked and even I couldn't contain myself from dancing uncontrollably. Scarlet first set closer was a huge surprise for me and sounded awesome from the first note of JK's guitar solo. By set 2, the venue was packed. Half Step was great, Ship of Fools even better. With Peggy O, LLR, Scarlet, and Ship of Fools, i couldn't have asked for anything more from a 70's show. was quietly hoping for something obscure like a High Time, To Lay me Down, China Doll, or If i had the world to give, but no complaints here. i have never been much of a fan of dancin, around and around or johnny b goode but i was too baked and in too good of a mood to not have a great time. 2nd set and encore ended very early ( a little after 11?) so I started to get excited for a lengthy filler perhaps reminiscent of the 4 song explosion o stir it up, box, and tangled from earlier in the tour. My little brother started talking about how cool a stir it up would be and i told him that if i could hear anything it would be a So Many Roads, which I had only heard one version previously at the BLOOZ CAFE in nj. I can't even describe the suprise and overall euphoria that came over me with the first notes of Roads. by the end of it, i had no voice and my face was sore from smiling. Looking around the venue, some older heads had their eyes closed throughout this tune, probably a tribute to jerry and how classic of a jerry tune this was and is. some of the younger people in the crowd seemed to bob a little but were unfamilliar with the tune...fools. by the end of the song, the energy just kept building and building into an explosion at the end. what a way to end the night. this morning i find myself in the library trying to study for a french test and fill out an archaeology worksheet. hard to concentrate when you have so many roads going through your head. all i can think about is the countdown to roanoke next tuesday and how the band could possibly top what was laid out last night in richmond. Guest captain420
by the end of it, i had no voice and my face was sore from smiling. YES! Looking around the venue, some older heads had their eyes closed throughout this tune, probably a tribute to jerry and how classic of a jerry tune this was and is. some of the younger people in the crowd seemed to bob a little but were unfamilliar with the tune...fools. This made me laugh! What a way to wrap up a night...that is what I am talking about! What about a "Let Me Roll It"...I would love to hear Lisa and the band destroy that one! MHeyne
i told him that if i could hear anything it would be a So Many Roads There is nothing better than actually getting the tune you wish for, especially if it's So Many Roads, especially if it's a huge version, and especially if it ENDS THE NIGHT. I'm pumped for you. Mark

Mohammad
ooh 76 is always good.. did it capture the 76 feel..? cuz there certainly was a jazzy feel to that whole year... especially jerry and phil i would say... i love the 2nd set when they jam together way more songs than usual.. or they would make a NFA sandwich NFA-ST.STEPHEN-drums-jam-wheel-NFA (im not sure if thats ever been done, its just an example OF WHY I LOVE 76 lol) 16 DAYS AND COUNTING UNTIL MILWAUKEE! 560sdl
Does anyone know of the show was being taped? I did not see any set ups but didn't look too hard. It was my first DSO show and I really enjoyed it. The So Many Roads just brought tears to my eyes. I need a copy of it! Thanks
