Well I had already written a very thorough review until I hit a button and I completely lost the post.......but.....in a nutshell, penns peak dissappointed me tonight- well not so much the venue but the crowd. But other than that, WHAT A SHOW!!! The 2nd set was incredible--- Keep the 60's stuff coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Death Don't absolutely 100% made the show for me. I thought I was going to fall over when I heard those first few notes. It was SOOOOOOO good to hear. The lovelight was in classic Lisa-pen style! And thanks for that Silver Threads! I was just thinking about how I wanted to hear that!!!!

and so I have to say it- I was appalled by the guy next to me who thought he could infringe on my space the entire night literally pushing me over to the point he was on top of me and I had no choice but to just keep dancing into him. And then he had the nerve to tell security on me!!!!! Unreal!!!!! Fortunately I think the security guy knew what was going on because he very politely asked me to move over and I said I had no where to go and then he just left me alone the rest of the night and the guy next to me realized that once he told security he had to behave himself so he let me be. And what was most appalling was the fact that the guy had about 4 feet behind him, 2 feet to his left, was standing there cross-armed with his jacket on the whole time NOT dancing. Moments like that make me yearn for the Fillmore again.

But besides that guy and the few guys just standing on the rail who kind of bummed me out, it was a wonderful night!

Thank you DSO for another elective for the books and Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!!!!!

xoxo

Lisa

Well that is how I like them "new" songs to be surrounded. Just an old hippie who appreciates the homogeneous nature of the era's being played. To each his own and that is no lie. My personal opinion only for what it is worth.

Alligator was unbelievable, Death don't have no Mercy carried through the venue with raw emotion that sent shivers down my spine. The hair stood up on my arms, a cellular reaction from many years of psycheldelics.

It is the year of the Eleven and I am so grateful it has arrived. Each time it is played it gets better and better.

I think I have been at every show the band has played at Penns Peak. never has the sound been that good. Thank you Dan for being able to fill that very large hollow space.

I have been typically hanging up front for the early part of the show and then drifting back to appreciate the sound. I avoid the drunken slobs that way too. Plenty of dancin space in the back. Shook those old bones during Lovelight and Throwing Stones.

I hope everyone has a grateful Thanksgiving. Thank you DSO for the music and fun. Thanks to all the Starheads who have made this journey richer. What a crew! I wouldn't change it for the world. But it has changed my world.

Peace and Love, NOKIA here we come! (I am hoping my friend David will be able to attend the Friday night performance. he is having some difficulty adjusting to life outside of prison and has been reluctant to come for the ride. I inticed him with a trip to the Sacred Mirrors pre show. We'll see)

Eat, drink and be Merry, Kris

"The hair stood up on my arms" yes, me too.

Silver Threads- Linda Ronstadt's version used to be my favorite...

The Eleven - ahh, still echoing in my head today as I work in the kitchen.

The crowd was pretty annoying compared to other times at the Peak, I totally agree. I moved to the back pretty quickly after which there were very few "interruptions". Gonna start there next time.

I have to say that while Penn's Peak is one of my favorite venues, the crowds there are not the best. And yes, I do remember the first time I got drunk, too.

That said, there was some awesome dancing going on upstairs last night. Plenty of spinning room. And I second the emotions stated about The Eleven and Silver Threads.

Bring on the longshot 12-31-69 on NYE.

that'd be some evening of breakouts - Mason's Children, Big Boy Pete, Seasons, Slewfoot....!

Nothing wrong with that!

Also, Kris I liked your write up...I would definitely take him to CoSM for a pre-party! That place is amazing and I heard it is moving and they got the land!!!

Last time I was there (last year this time) I heard John and his girlfriend played an intimate show at the Chapel, what an experience that would have been.

I have only been to Penns Peak twice. last nite and when they were there in july. I found the July crowd to be much better of the two. Last nites seemed to be more of the variety that would have been at any show at Penns Peak whether it be DSO or Ozzie Osbourne. I am hoping to find a better audience again there next summer shoudl DSO play again. I did notice the floor crowd thinout during the second set. Perhaps all that "old stuff" no one knows sent some folks packing and made some nice room for the rest of us.

simply incredible. the crowd may have sucked but i didn't notice. second set is a top 5 for me no question.

I can agree with VBF that the crowd did not quite live up to the Summer experience there, (probably because we were surrounded by Jim Thorpe beauties in the summer). I did not think it was that bad though and it did get more comfortable as people moved around the room a bit in the 2nd set.

As for the show....It blew me away. The Alligator was off the hook and the Shakedown was no slouch either. The setlist in the second set as a whole was tremendous and the sound seemed twice as loud to me in the 2nd set! I do not think I could have custom ordered it any better. How funny some of the possibly accurate comments that the 2nd set may have gone over some people's heads. Right before the encore R.E. said, "since we seemed to have been focusing on old stuff, we are going to play a few newer ones now"....the guy next to me said "thank fuck!".....hahahahahahaha....I dont think he knew what he just saw.

But hey, I certainly dont think anyone walked out of there saying "that was a cup of hot fat with a hair in it" (a little Aussie slang for ya). I think a great time was had by all and for some, including me, I think it was one of the best things I have seen DSO do.

Oh yeah, have to mention, meeting Herdy was great! You go to these shows knowing that heaps of people from the fourms are there but no idea who's who.

I had such an amazing time...there was plenty of dancing room on the floor. The sound was spetacular, I thought the place was going to explode at one point :) I did run into to some perverts in the crowd that could not keep their hands to themselves...yuck! We asked them kindly to stop but we eventually had to move because of them. That has been happening alot lately...wtf!?!
