Guest kodos
7/26/08 Park West Chicago Setlist: 5/4/91 Cal Expo I Bucket Sugaree Minglewood Loser Race is On Row Jimmy Masterpiece New Speedway Music Never II Victim Crazy Fingers Playin UJB Drums Space Miracle SOTM One More Saturday Night E Touch Filler Bye and Bye?(Need help here) Hey Pockey Way I shoulda kept my trap shut about the sound from Friday. Although the vocals were GREATLY improved and the lead parts were slightly more audible the bass ended up just being in the mix. Friday there were some really nice bombs, oh well... There were either quite a few more people there on Sat night or they all just found their way down to the floor. Things got really cramped near the back of the floor quickly. Bucket started pretty strong, Row Jimmy was well played, New Speedway is ALWAYS welcome but they tore the roof down with the Music Never, the jam and transition were pretty damn tight. Second set was well played but the jam between Playin and UJB melted down into a real spacey noisy cacophany of sound that was pretty damn sweet. The SOTM was really well done and the OMSN really rocked. I'm not sure what the first filler song was....Little help? Hey Pockey Way tore the goddamn roof off tho.... A good run for the boys back in Chicago where it all started. Come back and visit more often guys. We were spoiled and didn't even know it back in the Martyrs' days... Forum MVP anddave Posted July 27, 2008 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 Man does my shoulder feel better now!!!!!! Yeah that Pockey tore the roof clean off alright. Way to go Barracc-o!! My favorite moment was that Crazy Fingers jam. It crackled and sizzled and thundered and pounded and kept going and going. YUMMY!! The MusicNeverStopped was rollicking, and I enjoyed how it just burst out of the New Speedway coda. Kodos - yes, it's Bye and Bye or By and By depending upon whom you ask or where you look. There are loads of variations on this old chestnut, all having some variation of "We Will Understand it Better By and By". There also are many lyrical common threads with a variety of appalachian gospel tunes, including the old Methodist classic "In the Sweet By and By". Anyway I think this tune comes to the rep by way of Bobby and the Midnights. If it was played in a proper GD show then I'm forgetting or unaware. ...and while we're on the subject, Senor Eaton, please consider "Book of Rules"!! Thanks for a real good time last night. See y'all at Nelson.
Advisory Board Herdygerdy Posted July 27, 2008 Advisory Board Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 NY Steve - Thought of you during the Bucket my friend! Great show last night! Got my New Speedway, and my SOTM! After show, went to The Green Mill with some of the usual suspects, jammed to Pat Mallanger, then off to the Diner Grill for some cock pancakes... intresting evening folks... Forum MVP FunkyBass13 Posted July 27, 2008 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 then off to the Diner Grill for some cock pancakes... intresting evening folks... Not sure that I even want to know. Its just that the vision in my head of the "Jackass" eating "cock pancakes" is hurting my brain.

Advisory Board Herdygerdy Posted July 28, 2008 Advisory Board Report Share Posted July 28, 2008 Unfortunatly not, Grebe... A friend of mine had told me in my drunken stupor, that this greasy spoon had served him and his party earlier that evening a cock pancake.... so me and my big mouth (no pun intended you sick fucks), decided to ask the toothless man behind the counter making the food that there was a rumor going around that he served the best cock pancakes in town... Needless to say, I asked, he served, I ate, laughed, and there are pictures to prove it... God damn liquor...

Bye&Bye is on the Kingfish album, and was eventually performed by Bobby&theMidnights. never played by the Dead. Book of Rules would be awesome. as well as Jump for Joy
