Dear DSO & Family

Last year was my 7th Jubilee however very sadly I will be missing the Jubilee this year.  In all good conscious I can not travel to a country that has a leader who continually threatens to take over my country.  I will so so miss seeing my American Brothers and Sisters and sharing the music and love of our community.  This breaks my heart.   I am not sure Americans understand how devastating   it is for Canadians to wake up one day and find out that a country you once thought stood for freedom and was your greatest friend is actually your greatest threat.   I hope this all passes but in the mean time please consider visiting Canada again.   I think it was over 10 years since you were last in Toronto.   Sorry if this came as as harsh or too political for the forum but I thought you should know.

Stay Kind

Rob

Rob, as a member of the American music and love community I want to say most of us DO understand your disposition! Hell we’re embarrassed by what this dickface is doing to all of our allies. The vast majority of Americans have and still love Canadians, even a large percentage of the people that elected the Orange Haired Jesus. Shit, many of us are thinking of moving there to escape the shame. I do, however want to encourage you to allow your love of the music and community to rise above the rhetoric of our socially and intellectually small leader. He wants division, and we say “fuck you”, we want to be together, and we will be together. If we alienate each other, that douchebag wins. Love will always be more powerful than hate. Love brings people together and hate drives them apart. Dictators rise and fall, but love has always remained. If our staying together goes against what our elitist narcissistic leaders are pushing, then good for us!! Now that, our Canadian brother, was harsh and political, haha. Love to you friend!!

Weird how your first post is political esp after 7 yrs of jubilees? I like the forums for talk of music. Was reluctant to reply, but l'll bite. Went to Toronto for the show in 87, couldn't get back fast enough. Things were expensive up there and the horse mounties aggressively cleared the lot immediately after the show. No mention of the jubilee musics throughout your seven? Weird, but tolerable.

Security for the most part very

tolerable from what I can remember.

Praise DSO.

In 1992 as well as 1990.  In '92, there was these 2 cops that were walking around the lot that allowed folks to put bumper stickers on the back of their big leather coats.  I wish I had a picture of it.  They even lets us have a barrel fire on the lot since it was freezing and they came by to get warm a time or 2.

No problem getting back into the US in '90.  1992? - not so much.  Huge hassle, searched, and mildly interrogated.  Even after that near miss, my brother and I were heading back to Detroit after Phish New Years in MA (1992-1993) and thought it would be a good idea to cross over into Canada at Buffalo and come back through Detroit.  Again, no problem going in.  THIS close to long-term incarceration coming back though.  Rental Car, couldn't find paperwork, long hair, zero sleep in 3 days - pretty smart, eh?  Turned ALL our stuff inside-out except for my well-worn Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.  Had he leafed through that classic, we woulda been looking at a stretch in the clink.  Whew.

Some escape story there Tea.

In 90, we stayed outside Buffalo and

actually commuted the two shows,

about an hour each way.  I do not

recall any heavy handedness reentering

either time.  Hard to believe in a VW Bus

plastered with stickers and loaded with

six tourheads.

Praise DSO.

I don't do a lot of  posting.   Just not my thing.  I mainly just wanted to encourage the band to come to Canada and let them know why.   Sorry you didn't like the Toronto 87 show.  It blew my mind.  Of course it is hard not to love your first show :)   Peace.

I went there to get the Scarlet Fire and run Nuemans into my D5. All the songs were geared to the border cross from Alpine, then "pick up your china doll, it's only fractured, just a little nervous from fall " followed by the most beautiful Dear Mr Fantasy that made us all HAPPY. One of the best shows of the tour until we hit Roanoke 🎶🛞🇱🇷

im coming up as soon as you are the 51st state and you stop killing us with fentanyl. Pretty sure that the number 1 industry in Saskatchewan is fentanyl and Trudeau gives the orders to poison Americans. What’s worse is they put powdered covid vaccine in it which is guaranteed to kill you. Measles vaccines and covid vaccines should be banned. Luckily Trump banned smallpox vaccines so my boy won’t be poisoned by sone fake disease no one’s ever seen. Is it like chicken pox but smaller? What’s this polio disease. I order polio at mexican restaurants all the time. I don’t get sick from it. It’s time for common sense to reign. To secure our future we need to take over France. Canada is a large glacier. It’s how we have bags of ice. It’s the main export after fentanyl and ice fishing.
