Forum MVP Tea Posted September 15, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 15, 2022 ‘Grateful Dead Meet-Up at The Movies’ to Feature Copenhagen 1972 Tivoli Hall Performance https://jambands.com/news/2022/09/15/grateful-dead-meet-up-at-the-movies-to-feature-copenhagen-1972-tivoli-hall-performance/?utm_source=Relix+Daily&utm_campaign=9c8e7d1366-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_09_15_05_25&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_486e6e4b54-9c8e7d1366-29140159&mc_cid=9c8e7d1366&mc_eid=794e3472a3 Rhino Entertainment, in partnership with Trafalgar, will present the 2022 edition of Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies in theaters worldwide on Nov. 1, with additional screenings across the U.S., Canada and select territories on Sat. Nov. 5. The forthcoming movie showcases one of the Grateful Dead’s most iconic shows, from their Europe ‘72 tour, at Tivoli Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, on April 17, 1972. Grateful Dead Meet-Up captures the band’s ground-breaking concert broadcast event, which was the Dead’s initial major live concert broadcast and the first in Danish television history. The film has been fully restored, color corrected in high definition with audio mixed from the 16-track analog master tapes by Jeffery Norman and mastered by David Glasser. The movie presents viewers with approximately 90 minutes of Grateful Dead music as they run through classics like “Chinacat Sunflower,” “I Know You Rider,” “Big Railroad Blues,” “Truckin’,” and many more staples. Included are Jerry Garcia, Bobby Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Donna Jean Godchaux and Keith Godchaux. Moreover, the film also captures the band’s first live performance of “He’s Gone.” Additional highlights include “Ramble on Rose,” “Jack Straw” and “One More Saturday Night.” The tour also serves as the final run for Pigpen, who passed away on March 8, 1973, making the group’s rendition of “Hurts Me Too” all the more powerful. “We are pleased to be partnering again with Rhino to bring the ‘Meet-Up’ to cinemas around the globe,” said Kymberli Frueh, SVP for Programming and Content Acquisitions for Trafalgar Releasing. “The last ‘Meet-Up’ was the first with an international footprint and was a rousing success. We look forward to many more years of bringing Dead Heads together in local cinemas, wherever they may be.” Tickets for the movies will be available on Sept. 23 at www.meetupatthemovies.com. 3

waltecicalo
Man, I'm thrilled to hear about the Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies featuring that Copenhagen 1972 Tivoli Hall performance! As a die-hard Deadhead, I can't wait to relive those iconic moments on the big screen. It's amazing how they've managed to restore and remaster those old shows to bring them back to life. I'm particularly excited to see classics like "Chinacat Sunflower," "I Know You Rider," and "Truckin'" performed live. Plus, getting to witness their first-ever live performance of "He's Gone" is going to be something truly special. And you know what else? While you're soaking in the vibes at the theater, don't forget to catch the best movie in theaters right now.
