Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted September 26, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 26, 2021 They rose to the occasion amazingly, courageous to take on 6/24/85, it was laid out perfectly and couldnt be a better, friendlier venue to present this show, loved the open, free space through out the audience area Quote Link to comment
Forum MVP Rude Posted September 26, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 26, 2021 Alabama Getaway Greatest Story Ever Told They Love Each Other New Minglewood Blues Tennessee Jed My Brother Esau Loser Let it Grow Iko Iko Samson and Delilah He's Gone Smokestack Lightnin' Cryptical Envelopment drums Comes a Time The Other One Cryptical Envelopment Wharf Rat Around and Around Good Lovin' U.S. Blues f: box I love Dso 80’s shows and this one smoked. My only issue is during this 85 run starting with the June Berkley shows, Healy was going nuts with his new toys playing with Bobby’s vocal delay. It was very over the top for sure but that echo effect was so trippy and I’m sure that effect melted many a face. I don’t think cotter was a fan of how these shows were originally done as this original Riverbend show had so so much delay and sound movement and the Dso version didn’t. That greatest story had Bobby’s vocals on a crazy delay originally but not in this show. Yes I know jerry wasn’t really a fan of Healy’s effects but I think that’s what makes 85-87 really unique. I wish there was at least a little bit of this in the recreation. That being said it was a phenomenal show and we were engaged fully from start to end. Cryptical through wharf rat was one of the best segments I’ve ever heard. The sound in front of the PA’s was so powerful i didn’t realize I’d stopped dancing and let the music overpower me. That venue has some great sound. 20 feet back in front of the left or right PA was sound perfection. Skips bass was so clean and he rocked it. Was weird that the sound in the middle wasn’t near as good as the left and right. It was great because the dancer area with all the space in the world had better sound than the more crowded middle. Was surprised to see several Bay Area, Nevada, Maryland and east coast friends as well as the Indiana and Ohio friends we knew we’d see. Wonderful weekend. Summertime come and gone my oh my. 1 Quote Link to comment
Forum MVP 2muchfun Posted September 26, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 26, 2021 Was at original…one of my fav GD shows DSO did it justice. All kinds of dance space with many in crowd knowing the show after TLEO. Didnt matter…the boys rocked it…Skip is feeling it! Proximity to Dead & Co show made for rather sparse crowd compared to previous appearances. Good chance Hyryder will out draw them Halloween weekend. Quote Link to comment
Forum MVP BillK522 Posted September 27, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 27, 2021 While COVID has reduced the number of shows our band plays, when they do take the stage, prepare for an onslaught of top notch play. Saturday night in Cincinnati was no exception. How nice of the band to clean up lyrical flubs from the original, (check the Alabama/TLEO). I hope the Esau met with MileHighJoel's approval, I thought of him the second it started. Skip's work really drew out some inspired jams from the rest of the band, LIG and Other One immediately come to mind. Second set opening combo as much fun as one could have, the previously mentioned dance space allowing for full appreciation. The Round and Round/Good Love close absolute dance party bedlam on the left side of the stage. We had an amazing group at the gig, I love you all. Praise DSO. 3 Quote Link to comment
