Forum MVP bs69 Posted May 9, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 9, 2020 Any thoughts on iconic performances? Hearing the Scarlet>Fire>Estimated from 5-8-77 on the way to work this morning got me thinking about it. What are some great ones that come to mind? Watched Monterey 67 tonight and the Ball and Chain from Big Brother certainly fits as does The anthem from Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted May 9, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 9, 2020 I think the performance by Hendrix of The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock has stood the test of time. And for a generation of us in high school and college in the early '70s, before tapes were widely circulated, this was a reference standard. It holds up pretty well too. Milehighjoel.
I'll go with Warlocks at Hampton 89. (Dark star bustout second night.) Maybe not the best musically but what a crowd pleaser two nights
Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted May 11, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 11, 2020 Winterland closing. My favorite all time transition from scarlet to fire. Jerry is smiling slyly during the opening of this massive 3 set show. Maybe he's thinking, we're laying it all on you tonight. Didn't leave much out of this show, dark star, st stephen, wharf. It seems to get better each time I settle in for a viewing
