Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted February 3, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 3, 2020 I caught Better offDead last night at the 8X10 in Baltimore. Pretty damn good, fun party time, great group of followers. Bertha good lovin’ opener, sweet Peggy-o, China Ryder second set opener, U S bluz second set closer. A bunch of fun stuff in the middle. Superb so many roads. They don’t necessarily play tunes where you would expect them in the set list. Basically always elective. I’m gonna describe them as their thing is to take a tune and build and build kinda like a free bird jam but not really. Go see them to fill the void when Dark Star isn’t around.
LangeradoSoul
Saw Billy Strings in Lexington last night. Sold out the Manchester Music Hall. Last time in Lexington he was in a small club. This time decent sized hall. Awesome show. Wish I could have gone on to Louisville tonight!

Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted February 17, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 17, 2020 We went to the old Asheville Civic Center that holds 7500 and saw Billy Strings open for Umphrey’s McGee. Stellar time. Highlight was Billy Strings jamming with UM to Voodoo Child!

Forum MVP BillK522 Posted March 1, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 1, 2020 20/02/29 In Dead Nation, Jerry's Belvedere Tavern, Towson, MD Half Step, Friend of the Devil, Deep Elem Blues, Queen Jane, Bird Song, Cumberland Blues, Don't Ease Me In, So Many Roads, Sugar Mags. China>Rider, Viola Lee Blues, Crazy Fingers, Good Lovin'> La Bamba> Good Love, Truckin'>New Speedway> Morning Dew>Terrapin Station. Dear Prudence Jam, The Weight, US Blues, One More Saturday Nite, Midnight Moonlight, Bid You Goodnite. Brooks guest on keys for whole show. Brooks' Birthday. 4 hours of free entertainment in a shoe box bar that felt like your living room. Paul and the boys in fine form throughout and guest keys a welcome texture and boost to vocals. Deep Elem killed. China>Rider>Viola sequence delicious and Dave Jacobson delivered an other worldly DEW, I was unsure the room could hold up under its tidal wave of a final jam. We are lucky in the Baltimore DC area to have nice choices of local Dead music. Next up Rec Room Friday night. Praise DSO.
cusnjohn
Seeing Twiddle tonight at Meow Wolf. A blur when I saw them last at the final Vibes, with so many bands back to back. Think I liked them a lot.

sml
Just got home from Steely Dead - They were really great. I don't know what I expected going in, but it was certainly exceeded. Some really excellent transitions - What they're doing resonates with my own sensibilities in a way I like and appreciate. My first time seeing A-Bear and I was quite impressed. Go see these guys. Truckin' > Black Friday ; Scarlet Begonias > Dirty Work ~ Here Comes Sunshine ; Night By Night ~ Loser ; Josie > The Other One > Josie ;; Shakedown Street > Kid Charlemagne > Shakedown Street ; Green Earrings ~ Samson And Delilah ; Deal > Reelin' In The Years > Deal ;;

My two favorite bands, melted into one. A bear, two keyboards, drums, bass. Homeboy from the lodge sat in on Sax but no one touring with them- surprising as horns are a big part of Steely Dan.
Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted March 5, 2020 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2020 That looks awesome! I was the biggest Steely Dan freak before I discovered the Grateful Dead. Kid Charlegmane sandwich! Wow! I would definitely go see that. Thing is, do they tour or do I have to travel to the double Helix? Hey, I just realized, do you get that from a Steely Dan tune? No, it's a random inside joke that no one here is inside of. Suffice to say that my hilarious and Brilliant friend was once talking, while under the influence of Lady L, about the nature of DNA and finished his diatribe by yelling "double helix!" While spinning and recreating the double helix. It was a 'had to be there's moment, one that will never be created again. Sakada was there, maybe he's lurking around the forums and can attest to the brilliance of the moment. All really good but I loved Green Earrings and the transition from Deal>reelin in the years was top notch. Way to go A-bear.
