Two sets with John playing guitar is always good for the soul. He remains absolutely incredible. Melvin on the B3 makes for smiles all around. Rhythm section is solid. Sad that Melvin can barely get up from the bench after the show. His walking is labored to say the least. Forum MVP DesertDead Posted January 31, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 31, 2022 I forgot Tangled Up In Blue, which was before the Sis and Bros. Not that anyone cares, but I’d like the Internet to be accurate 😎

Forum MVP Rude Posted January 31, 2022 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 31, 2022 It was sad to see him have to be golf carted in and sadder to see the golf cart get stuck trying to turn around to take him 4 feet closer to the stage. You just don’t survive severe obesity into old age like that. You don’t want to see talented people like that die. A human body can survive most things into old age, but severe obesity isn’t one of them. He’s 68 years old. That’s pretty much a miracle and not to be morbid, but making it to jubilee at that age with that health condition is in no way assured.
LangeradoSoul
Yeah, that sucks. I should have known he was almost 70. I actually first saw him play with “Melvin Seals and the JGB” in July 1999, at Legend Valley. There was a High Times music festival. He had Judah gold on guitar for his touring band at that point, and they had released a live record. https://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Our-World-Members-Only/dp/B00000676L Merl Saunders was also at that show. Keep healthy, Melvin
Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted February 3, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 3, 2022 or didnt see Emmylou was here in Brown County Indiana but the show was postponed due to threatening ice. Looks like either April or July with her current schedule. Setlist from Thursday in Chicago would be nice? I'll get ya back

Forum MVP DesertDead Posted February 7, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 7, 2022 Saw The Alligators and Universe Peoples last night. Both SoCal bands. The Alligators will be the house band at Skull and Roses Festival. They were a lot of fun. Front man is part Belushi, part Pigpen. I’m surprised he didn’t whip his member out at some point haha. Quite gregarious. Occasionally bangs the gong at the back of the stage. They did some Katie Mae lyrics over Minglewood Blues, which was surprisingly good. Their whole set was surprisingly good and a lot of fun. Lead guitarist was damn good. Yes, they played Alligator. Fun stuff. Universe Peoples had some good things, but didn’t gel for us so we bailed after a few tunes.

Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted February 9, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 9, 2022 Pat Metheny Side Eye Project! Thomas Wolfe Auditorium with James Francies on keys of Houston and Joe Dyson on Drums and of course the orchestrion. Wow truly inspired playing by his bandmates. Monstrous! What I've got is...... Have you heard? Antonio Message to a Friend It Starts When We Disappear Timeline When We were Free A dissonant crazy Ornette Coleman song Acoustic melody with This is Not America and Last Train Home included. I think the final exam for a new crew member is can you tune the Picasso guitar? 😉 I did get run over by a spotlight during "It Starts When We Disappear". jeez. It was strong and came right at me. 🤪

Forum MVP BillK522 Posted February 12, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 12, 2022 22/02/12 In Dead Nation, State Fair, Catonsville, MD Jack Straw, Sugaree, Cumberland Blues, Ramble On Rose, All Over Now, Box Of Rain, Candyman, Cassidy, West LA Fadeaway, Big Railroad Blues. Crazy Fingers>Uncle John's Band, Foolish Heart, Truckin'>Other One, Casey Jones, Scarlet Begonias. Great to see old friends and dance the winter blues away. Random friends were having dinner nearby and heard the music. Cumberland inspired, All Over Now a hoedown and the Big Railroad stomped. Crazy Fingers well executed, Foolish the highlight of the evening as the second set cut down on hard 11:00 curfew. Big fun. Heard Dancing Days from Zep on the drive home and was having a ball. Stay safe West Coasters. Praise DSO.

Set I: How Sweet It Is, TLEO, Tore Up, Help>Slip>Foolish Heart, Sugaree, She Belongs To Me, Gimme Some Lovin', NFA. Set II: Good Lovin', Must Have Been The Roses, Cumberland, Black Muddy River, Samson> Drumz> Space> Tear-A-Pin> Lucy SD> Crazy Fingers> He's Gone> Other 1> Truckin'> Love Light. Right or wrong, this place was packed! But everyone still had room to do their own version of a Dead Wiggle. If people were not comfortable being in a room with that many people they were allowed to go elsewhere; I stayed!
