Forum MVP Rude Posted September 29 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted September 29 Friday 9/27 at Rupp Arens watched a 38 song 3 hour 26 minute set. 1 set. 8:00 on the dot to 11:26. “Kentucky don’t give a fuck about no hurricane”. Sturgill ripped my face off. Melty and jammy. It was some goodness it was so long of a show meili asked if he played turtles yet and I’m like it was like 12 songs ago. It became surreal at the end. It was so deep a dive for that long consecutive music I sorta lost track with reality. The constant song>song>song gave no reprieve.

HaHa - I get the fanboy treatment from them more out of obligation than desire. They are super nice guys tho
Forum MVP Rude Posted October 16 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 16 Went to the Fabulous Fox in St Louis to see Sturgill Simpson/ Johnny Blue skies as he goes by now, again. There was a group of cowboy hat dudes way up front. He plays half of his metal album over the 1st 8 songs. They left and we moved up. A buddy there said peeps are gonna leave when they realize this ain’t a country show. It’s hard melty rock jam. This configuration anf sound is new but their drummer from Lexington is fantastic but he can’t lose the beat or tightrope it. I can see how it’s hard to not play on beat but I hope that evolves. Solid fills and technical work etc but to take the psychedelia out there more you gotta lose the beat. Now he will leave all kick drums and Toms alone while the guitar shreds to create that effect. Sorta how the drummers will do during a terrapin one time around but I’d love to see this band learn from each other and keep evolving. Playing with Bobby and him saying Jerry is his favorite guitarist definitely led to this sound change. 3 hours and around 30 song set. The Fox is a fantastic venue too. Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted October 29 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 29 10/26/24 could possibly be the 12/31/78 of our era. My long time taping friend streamed this as his first listen. He couldn't believe what happened, exclaiming Wow! 100% sold. They are not a cover band. This friend of mine was the one who called me back in 1998 while he was at the Dark Star Orchestra Bogarts show telling me to get down there, which I did in time for the end of the first set. Almost got him to Jubilee last year and am petitioning him to get here for the 2025 experiment. Being in Monument Colorado he does the annual WSP RR event. Hopefully Jubilee is his next move
