BCE 420 Lexington: #1

Shakedown Street, Used to Love Her, The Race is On, Run for the Roses, LR Rooster, BE Women, Wang Dang Doodle, TLEO, Blow Away>Don't Ease. #2:

Scarlet>Fire (with Dino English sitting in for one of the drummers), Easy Wind, Waiting for A Miracle, TWLWMYD, Truckin, Black Peter, I Need a Miracle, OMSN. Encore: Sugar Magnolia (no SSDD)

The Shakedown opener was reminiscent of the Long Beach '81 with the nice long ending accentuating the keyboard with the guitar interplay. Good seeing DSO friend at the end of the show 〽️

Great to see you last night! The Burl is becoming a hot spot to see BCE. Great to see you.

(also good to see 2Muchfun at the Born Cross Eyed show in Louisville last week at the Whirling Tiger)

Ouch! That one hurts. I was sitting here Sat afternoon around 5, seriously contemplating coming down and that's a "should of" that's going to take a long time to get over. Been wanting, and asking, for a Reuben for quite awhile and Don't Let Go used to be in rotation before COVID; however, I believe that's the first one for BCE in forever (I know it got played at one of the side gigs on a Fri, from Lager reporting), Take a Melody has been a long time coming. Maybe both drummers were sick or couldn't make it so they ripped all those one drummer JGB tunes with the Mighty Dino English? My evil dark side is telling me the same troubling news it did during the eighties with The Grateful Dead ~ don't even think about missing a  SPAC or RR or any show (after the 85 onslaught) and considering the Whirling Tiger is now the new Cosmic Charlies, it's only right that they dropped this show there 💫 Happy that Too Much Fun was in the house! May that 🎶🔥 spread wildly to the fields of Thornvllle 🎶🔥

JGB w/ Ron Holloway | Willies Midnight Crazy Train Campout Schuylkill Haven, PA

Technically it was last weekend.  Man they are really killing it these days.  Melvin's Hammond just tears through your soul.
Also the night before was Melody trucks and the Fitzkee brothers (w/ Melvin & Ron H.), they also put on a pretty good show.

Melvin couldn't make his scheduled 9:30-11 evening show on Friday so Hyryder filled in after playing their earlier 5-6:25 scheduled show. Then we also got a third dose on Sat from 6:35-8 opening with St Stephen. The weather could not have been any better ~ low 50's for sleeping and mid 70's -80 during the day. We secured the absolute best camp site on Wednesday (although they tried to send us into the boonies) Thanks to Ducks eagle eye and Jedi driving we turned around and drove right up to the beach entrance from the woods. My first time back to the Ledges since Dark Star left , like 15 years ago. I forgot how intimately everyone there becomes best friends. 🤞🤞🤞🤞That DSO gets back there🙏🙏🙏

It was strange for Melvin's scheduled Sat show when they opened with Dancin in the Streets. Considering it was billed as a JGB show I could think of at least 5 JGB standard openers. The rest of the show was played like a dead show complete with a d/s in the second set, which for me was heard just fine at our primo camp. They seemed more of a dead cover band not even close to the quintessential Jerry Garcia Band shows and I don't like saying this but they have played Sisters and Brothers to the ground. Maybe time has done it's thing to get Dark Star back there. They would easily sell 3000+. Jubilee is great for a music festival, Ledges is incomparable as the best venue in Ohio and would be closer for upstate NY folks. Peeps would be more likely to fly in from the West Coast. Have fun in Europe everyone. My sister leaves for Portugal tomorrow. In another lifetime for me, not the path I led this time around. It's really great that DSO is back to playing a lot of shows! Looking forward to some Midwest in Nov 🙏

Squirm out of Colorado ~ very good took me to places only Partical has done. Solid drummer, keys, bass and guitar. Small set up under an easy up close to ours, really talented and exceptional delivery, only one cover: Fly Like An Eagle.... time keeps on slipping into the future made it a perfect cover for this band. They did Stanley's Thursday before their all day Friday Deercreek parking lot extravaganza then the after show at the mouse trap from 11-2 on Saturday. Catch them if they're in your area and stay for the whole deal, it becomes something really special by the end

Wondering if this Friday show in Wonderland Forest is gonna happen. Lots of rain and some wind in the forecast. I’ve got my Alaskan moccasins ready if it goes off. Headed to Bethel Woods for the 2nd & 3rd nights of phish.

I think I have this right although I feel like there was something after Tennessee Jed (even with no encore).  Keep in mind, most of these songs are all 10-15+ minutes so the show was much more full than the setlist might suggest.  Steve Kimock ripped it to shreds last night and the surprisingly larger crowd responded in kind.  My currently iced hamstring is telling me it was an excellent time!

The Grey Eagle  Jazz is Dead 8:10/2024

Oooooo- this was absolute a groove moving time. I just love the way Alphonso Johnson lays down a strong funky bass line. Just scrumptious. And he’d go REAL deep with those notes. Pretty wild he’s a founding member of Jazz is Dead and was in Weather Report Suite, playing with Wayne Shorter- if you haven’t seen that biopic of Shorter’s I recommend it. I rode rail first set and the whole hall was soooo quiet when they were playing- hardly a whisper!!! Savored.  Kimock’s amp was turnt up and a little too much for sustained proximity. Second set- the booze kicked in and loosened audience tongues- bleh. But overall better than most crowds!! (Alcohol is evil unless it is a beautiful a work of art like Veuve Clicquot; wow, the story behind that one!! Barbe- Nicole Clicquot was a bad ass!! )

My first love is dancing forever and always; last night I shook off the grind of work and felt free. And that is priceless. such weird times Heavy energies around.
Kimock’s guitar sound was quite lovely and created serene places, delicately and thoughtfully sketched out. He actually smiled some!

Glad I made the trip up and back home . Nice dinner with shellfish beignets that were to die for!!! Show was about 3 hours long.

I did Lazy summer home this weekend. Highly recommend. Maybe same guy who owns the Trap owns this place? (I could be wrong) super cheap weekend. Not enough people to worry about bad bathroom conditions. Pool and shit. Reminds me of the black mountain KOA scenery wise. Cabins to rent but I reserved a car camp spot by a pond. Cool little Hyryder  family owned place about 25 minutes from Deercreek. I literally stayed at a hotel off this same exit two weeks ago with Luke for phish. 2 weeks before that I did the ledges with Sammy and AC. Also this place is Right by the casino in Anderson and also near Uranus fudge factory.  🤣😆

We stayed at the B/W in Anderson for Phish. Glad you made it. I've heard nothing but good vibes from folks each year at the next show after Lazy. I've got a connect in Kokomo that's opening up his house as a place to stay after the free show on Sept 21st. Anna and I will be there and more are welcome.

think it’s pretty weird we were both at String the halls in 2018 at 3rd and Lindsley right when Billy got famous but had to honor his tiny venue bookings. Luckily jubilee also got him 6 months later before he was selling out arenas. Felt bad that Covid initially cost him his nut. Playing 500 capacity then arenas booked and all cancelled.
