Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted July 19, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 19, 2018 Thanks for saying it. Nothing is off the table. They could play anything that night. Warfield/radio city shows probably wouldn’t fit.

Forum MVP Rude Posted July 23, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 23, 2018 By now the setlists have likely all been prepared by Eaton, because the most likely way to not hear a song or show is to request it to be played I was pretty lucky to hear my 2nd desolation last tour. When the book is brought out for Eaton, you have a good shot at it being that. I think memorizing the entire night before Christmas is easier than desolation row. Edit: looking at it now the night before Christmas looks easier. Memorizing it as a 6th grader was pretty rough and in my mind it seemed a lot longer than when I just googled it. Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted July 23, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 23, 2018 Yea, I noticed a pattern (eras, years) to the set lists after studying them over the last couple go ‘rounds. I figured Eaton knew what they were doing for the foreseeable future, well calculated. Of course, I could be totally wrong. ...Goes to show, you don’t ever know... Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted July 24, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 Actually, my requests list is tongue in cheek. I’m on my way to listing every song the Dead has ever played. It’s kept my mind occupied as of late, recalling songs. I’ve always had a play whatever you want attitude. I don’t hate any song the Dead or DSO ever played. Even Samba in the Rain has it’s purpose. You gotta pee some time.
Forum MVP Rude Posted July 24, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 You really never know what tour will be heavy in a given era if it’s heavy at all in an era. I caught a bunch of I Think winter or spring tour a couple years ago that was a heavy 80’s tour then you will get one that’s heavy 76-78. I realized attempting to guess was a fools errand. Getting a 76 show one year doesn’t mean next time they play there you won’t get a 77. The only thing you won’t get(probably) is back to back 69 shows. You could get back to back 1 drummers though but it would be like 71 and 74. I think St. Louis had a 76 then 77 show the year they did 2 there so the only way to know is look at the stage setup and then you always have the elective possibility. I hate knowing what era the show will be before I inspect the setup and friends know that I don’t want to know the show if they know it beforehand and strangers who google the setlist based on the 1st few songs and then try to tell me what’s gonna be played to act like they know shit end up with car trouble never to be seen again, allegedly. On announced shows, I avoid looking at the setlist and if I can’t avoid it, I make sure not to look at it within several weeks of the show and in those weeks I’ll be so inundated with other shows I’ll forget easily. My brain doesn’t retain song orders anyway. It’s like if you have a 150 possible food dishes and make a 20 course meal out of those 150 daily, remembering what order the food was delivered in over the course of 2000 days. I’ll remember it was a good meal but since I like all of the food options pretty much equally, the order the food was brought doesn’t stick with me. For me it’s an exercise in futility. Plus it makes the meals more fun not knowing the next dish.

Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted August 6, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Rationalize the work away, it’ll be there when you get back. ....some climb, to get to Terrapin ! Yea, I have three long work days to be able to take the end of the week off. I decided to stay down the beach, got another room for Friday night. I poked around on line and found a band called Dead Reckoning is playing at Yesterday’s in Marmora Friday night. Acoustic. Might as well make it a long weekend. Dead music to soothe my soul in the evening, fun in the sun during the day. Might even bother to bring my fishing pole with me to Corson’s inlet, if it’s not too much trouble. Also, I found out the back story on Mack and Manco pizza. I went and visited my dad and he filled me in. (He’s doing well after breaking his leg. Rehabbing his ass out of the wheelchair, planning on getting back to his apartment and out of the assisted living wing of the complex where he lives. Not a bad attitude for 86.) anyway, Mack died, Manco bought out the other half. That’s when the name changed to Manco and Manco. Those people sold the business to a third party who got left holding the bag when the IRS investigated the business for back taxes. Something like that. It’s not important. Dark Star Orchestra Thursday night in Atlantic City! That’s what matters.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted August 6, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Still love the pizza. We will be doing the Brooklyn and Asbury show but will also be at the shore all weekend. My moms place is just off 34th st after you cross the bridge. Yesterday’s couldn’t be more than 7 min drive from my moms.
Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted August 6, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Yea, I’m eating some of that pizza this weekend, for sure. I got a room right on 34th street. Next to the Acme. Are you in that neighborhood to the right as you come onto the island? My parents first beach house was 37th and Asbury from 68-76. I’ve been all around that world right there. Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted August 10, 2018 Forum MVP Report Share Posted August 10, 2018 ....but here goes anyway! Where do I start? Ok, the room, Perfect. Someone told me they used Radio City Music Hall as the basis when they built this place. So, yea, perfect. The crowd, Well, we’re all a bunch of really nice people. The set list, As good as it gets. The band, never better. I love jack straw opener. The best way to start a show. Everyone performed just exactly perfect. Rob’s voice and playing was strong. At one point, I think during fire, Jeff bent down low with his guitar, pretty cool. I love Peggy-O. Rob was banging the keys. Skip was throwing thunder. Lisa had the time of her life. Everyone joined in on the drums, picking up various percussion instruments and trying their hand at it. This band is literally unbelievable. Bix told me he thought it was the best show of the tour. That was right before they laid out Brokedown that brought tears to my eyes. I’m leaving out so much. Did I say I might not do Dewey? I’m such a fucking liar. Take a leave of absence from work and hit the road full time like chuck and sml. Heard a rumor that the champ after a leave of absence is planning to retake his throne considering all legal work is now being outsourced to India. On that note did u guys hear about that computer programmer who outsourced all his work to programmers in other countries at a fraction he was getting paid so he coikd collect most of his salary for not working. I’m thinking you should do that chuck. It’s the future
LIkeEveryOne
late comment from the show. Hung out at the end of the show in the theater. Started talking to a guy who was also just hanging out, he said he was there on a Comp from the casino, and didn't pay for the ticket. He said he's been too so many shows at the Tropicana he's lost count. He said "this was the best show I've ever seen here, the energy was incredible, and so much smoke, really great" . I couldn't have agreed more. on my way to Dewey tonight.
