Mickey Hart: Albert (LSD) Hoffman letter to Steve Jobs

You all know that Dr. Albert Hoffman discovered LSD. Well, on what  would have been his 112 birthday on Jan. 11, Mickey Hart posted a tweet that linked to an article in The Fix about a letter Hoffman wrote to Apple founder Steve Jobs asking him to donate money for research  into psychotherapeutic uses for  LSD being conducted by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Hoffman wrote the letter at age 101, a year before he died, after learning Jobs  had claimed that taking LSD was one of the  most important events in his life.  If you would like to read the short article and the letter it is here:  https://www.thefix.com/content/steve-jobs-acid-lsd-apple-letter7002  

 

The letter does not say whether Jobs honored the request, but in the comment section there is a link to a Huffington Post article in 2011 about a new book in which the letter-story first appeared called "This is Your Country on Drugs: The Secret History of Getting High in America". While searching the MAPS  website, I also found this interesting interview with Hoffman done in 1996.Reading that I learned he called LSD "Delysid" (which is now the name of my latest imaginary band, I'm also considering opening a sandwich shop by that name). There are other Hoffman interviews on the website I have yet to read.
