Forum MVP John A Posted April 1, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 1, 2021 Was at those '88 Byrne shows. Excellent run. The 4 song sequence to open 4/1 was a stunner! Jerry's vocal delivery on the Dew 3/30 is otherworldly.

Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted April 9, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 9, 2021 Well, true confession, I skipped this spring visit by Jerry and the boys to the Spectrum. I was living in Ocean City, New Jersey, putting together Grady White boats. My last show, every song they played, I had seen them play before. I was questioning the need to rack up shows. Rookie move. WMMR and Pierre Robert were covering the start of this show on the radio. I tuned in to catch that. Hearing Midnite Hour start with a thunderous bang, I instantaneously realized that I had totally fucked up and vowed to never make that mistake again. I didn’t, right up until the end. Thing is, the next year, between about eight beers, green world blotter, and the substance shared by the deadheads who pushed their Brokedown VW bus into the parking spot next to ours, which turned out to be Opium, that show was a psychedelic blur. Another mistake which led to me seeing all three nights the next spring. What a long, strange trip it’s been.
Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted April 9, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 9, 2021 I learned the lesson from this show also, going up for only the Saturday 4/6/85 show because I was working the assembly line and couldn't miss work in my first 90 days. Others from our group stayed on and came back with the tales that revealed touring was what had to happen 3

Forum MVP John A Posted April 28, 2021 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 28, 2021 Jerry belts out an "I'd rather be with you" in that Standing On The Moon at Irvine '89 that resonates to this day. As an interesting aside to that Irvine run, I spoke on a cell phone for the first time driving into the parking lot - in those days it was technically a "car phone". A friend had borrowed her aunt's car, and said aunt had given her permission to use the installed phone. I called a buddy back in Ithaca to give him a blow by blow of our entrance to the lot. Wild memory!

It's length is problematic in this day and age. If they haven't, Jubilee or Jamaica would be about the only spots I could think of where it's possible 2
