So good to be home. So good. It's all happening!!!

stranger opener fit the mood and set a tone for my first show back in my longest time away. Thank you. Groovy.

highlights:

during the shakedown 2nd set opener the drummers did what at the time my brain was trying to fathom as a polymorphic rythymation but my body just kinda fell away bc they did something to shake me inside then inside out.... that was THE kind of sound I came home for.

china doll................ frighteningly mournful with just the right dosage of hope. Delicious.

But.... I heard this thing after space........

it sounded like the chiming keys of I will take you home.... and another times forgotten space flashed before my eyes as I heard Brent and Rob B simultaneously take this little girl lost in a forest of dreams all the way home but then..... there were days between- dude I always love dancing in front with round these parts even said days between just bf I heard it when I was still being carrried home in arms of many lifetimes and I really felt the days between stretch and unravel me and turn my particles into dots and waves all at once

but

it was the WHEEL! Fuck. From the chiming to the first lil turning of the wheel across their fingers I was out of my body and when I came back it was in a puddle of tears w my new budddy patting my back to help me ground. That was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in my life musically. Certainly the most recent. My goodness. How do they do this?!?!

um.... so..... he said DEAD ASS in uncle! I swear to god! And I have never ever ever in all my few years seeing these guys ever heard him say that.... I've always heard laying there by the side of the road. And in playin he sang turning- but he used to always sing training.....

am i fucking crazy, is the Mandela effect leaking into my dso experience, or did Rob just do something like bobby did that he has always done different as far as I have heard...?????? Does anyone know what I am talking about?!?! Lmao.

oh, and he did the sweet bobby calls to a sweet perfection in sugar mags.... gotta love this ssdd we all share!!!

i made it back to my homies place just in time to send Apache (the cool new dude, he has a name, lol) to the hospital to get fluids back from puking all day so he can come play w me the rest of our trip. He spent Valentine's Day watching me sew but I'm grateful I didn't spend my first night back to DSO in the hospital w him.... glad he is a big boy and can go handle it.

oh.... and that positively filler................ that brought the satisfaction even though they tried to say we can't get no. I have heard em play this like a rejoicing prayer but this one cut deep and bled all over the place. Keep rolling your eyes and ignoring me. I still love the ever living shit outta ya, haters ;) roll Away the poo

mmmmmmmorning Dew....... oh yeah...... damn. That was a good one. Majestic.

how did I stay away so long? Oh yeah: I had to find my own way home.

Guess it doesn't matter anyway

what Steph was saying is that they played 5-14-83 Greek (just up the road at UC Berkeley) with a powerful dose of Positively 4th Street and Satisfaction filler.

2nd set was outrageous.  Big jamming throughout set 2, wth big ballads, both China Doll and Morning Dew.

As I was relating my adventures at last night's show to Apache I suddenly remembered one of the best things about the show!!!

the lights! And whatever the combo of music and lights were doing to my senses. Btw: only had 2 beers as my mojo last night (one WAS a Pliny, thanks for the Bobby Gs tip, John, was awesome!) so.... the lights......

im spinning round grooving getting funky w shakedown.and as I open and close my eyes in bliss I realize that the impression of the lights above the stage were no longer round as I closed my eyes: they started turning into those lil DSO dark star pins they were giving out like our wings- all spiked just the same out of the glow. Cool. But only the beginning. During playin they became distinct 5 pointed stars every time I closed my eyes, like a galaxy as I danced. But this is all globe like the actual lights just beginning to fracture and splatter into larger shapes..... so...... when they became HEARTS (NOT all sharp edges, hearts round) during the wheel back into playin I kinda started wondering who's high I was experiencing cause I don't usually see stuff like this (esp sober: by second set I had certainly danced off the beers) and it was VERY distinct and amazing!!!!!

thank you! I don't know what kind of bliss field we were circumambulating but it made me see very special shapes in the light impresssions on my eyelids. Very very special moments for me.

Oh- and by the end when he started making the layers of the tie dye banner light up in color specific waves, I saw the young girl beside me at her first show drop her jaw and go wide eyed- I think that was her "got it" moment. She was really smiley after that (when I saw her get it she saw me see her get it and I smiled and nodded and she looked like the definition of grateful!!!) those lights will steal your face. Least those swirling front light monsters haven't been around: those things used to really mess me up!!!! Hehehehe

Stella from 5-15-83 is an all time great version.

I think playing back to back show in the same city makes a ton of sense from the perspective that no songs will be repeated, requiring much less set list juggling for Eaton.

Plus it so cool to play Greek shows down the street from UC Berkeley.

I was saying that to cause it sounded like days between for a couple min it's like at the last moment they switched over to a fantastic wheel

5/13/83 would be a post-space Eaton-fest :)

I guess it doesn't matter what, where, or when, the HOW is always the thing with DSO!  Stay dry people.

I love both 5-13 and 14.

The 13th features a great China rider in which Bobby is seemingly absent at the beginning. Jerry steps up and starts playing Bobby's signature riff, which quickly got Bobby to start playing. Epically long eyes as well.

Awesome theater. The sound is the best I've heard in a long time. There was room to groove Thursday. The 1st tier sound was so superior to the pit. The pit was probably 5-6' deep and the hanging speaker array wasn't set up for the pit. That being said 60' back on the 1st of 2 tiers was spectacular sound. My ears hurt at 1 point it was so loud. Sound was epic. I really loved winter 2016 tour which was 80's heavy. This tour is similar and love DSO's sound in these shows.
