Forum MVP John A Posted February 16, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 16, 2017 Well then - here is one bad ass boxed set. I believe we have, in part, Mr. Eaton to thanks for this. http://www.dead.net/store/1970s/may-1977-get-shown-light-box?cmpid=dn/2017February16/Introducing1977-main-image-1&eml=2017February16/3891538/6131962&etsubid=136384719
Forum MVP cm_hayden Posted February 17, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 17, 2017 Good run, I'll order for the memories. But, nothing beats the legendary Jerry Moore's aud of 5/8.
Forum MVP John A Posted February 17, 2017 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 17, 2017 The matrix of 5/8 Betty with the Moore AUD is a pretty compelling listen. So this announcement basically crashed the dead.net servers. Orders wouldn't go through for the duration of yesterday, and they sent a "we're sorry and we're working around the clock to correct it" follow up email. This morning around 8:30 I was able to order with no problem. Word was that between midnight and 5 am there was significant problems ordering. Then they redirected the orders to the Rhino site which was able to handle the traffic.

Forum MVP 2muchfun Posted February 17, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 17, 2017 My first dead show 5/4/77...bummed Palladium run didn't make any picks cuts. Many of my deadhead friends agree that Barton Hall was not the best show that year, month, or week for that matter.

Forum MVP bs69 Posted February 18, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 18, 2017 I think the Tuscaloosa show from the May run is the hidden gem that nobody talks about. I probably listen to that and Hartford at the end more than any of the others.
Forum MVP John A Posted February 18, 2017 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 18, 2017 bs, Totally agree about the Tuscaloosa show. It's on fire. I'm not as big on the Hartford though. At least it's not on my cream of May '77 list. I think there's one thing we can agree on though - if Boston/Ithaca/Buffalo aren't the best consecutive 3 shows, they're certainly the best 3 consecutive shows in different cities. Forum MVP bs69 Posted February 18, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 18, 2017 Love that Hartford Sugaree. I agree about the 3 shows, but if I had a choice to make on this tour I would do the southeast leg over the northeast

But think about what we have in 5-8 and 5-9 : possibly the best Morning Dew and the best Comes A Time back to back!
Forum MVP 2muchfun Posted February 19, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 19, 2017 11/5/77 was my 3rd GD show after Englishtown and fore mentioned Palladium. So my personal 3 inaguaral shows is why 77 was a good year to hop on the bus.

Forum MVP John A Posted April 20, 2017 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 20, 2017 Island, The author of that, Peter Connors, wrote a book "Growing Up Dead" about his late 80s touring adventures as a young man. It's a decent little quick read.
Forum MVP Mango Posted April 21, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 21, 2017 I challenge anyone to listen to 5-22 and tell me it isn't one of the best shows... Ever. The band is so tight, Jerry's leads succinct and on fire. My favorite versions of TMNS and Sugaree. You've gotta find the dp3 outtakes as well, some goodness in there. Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted April 21, 2017 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 21, 2017 I would have thoroughly enjoyed attending that show. But 5-22-77 is the day I graduated from college so making the FL shows was not in the cards. We had to wrap it up for a bit after Atlanta. Still and all, it was a fun month.
