Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted February 14, 2017 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 14, 2017 The last night was stellar. By now the last half of 2016 had drifted away, in thought and feeling. I am constantly amazed by the healing and cathartic nature this music can wrought, through fire and light, because although it might not be my story, Hunter captures a reality both beautiful and enduring that will turn the moment on its ear. This weekend flung open my heart, reset my head, clearing the detritus, and honed clarity wrapped in peace. When we made it home, it felt like a totally different place. Playing like a wave upon the sand. Terrapin : love, unconditional, selfless and real, is is the only worthy pursuit of life. First Set! The night was already oh so right. Terrapin opened a show 2-26-77 and only appeared twice in first set after that according to what I can find. However, 5 times in 77 did it finish out as encore. That would be incredible!!- have you seen DSO encore with Terrapin? New Speedway Boogie - They really got bluesy at the end of this one, repeating over and over while harmonizing that this darkness has got to give. I am reading a book called “Living Aloha, Living Love” in which the author puts forth that condition of humanity”s state of living is mirrored in nature. Is the holding back, storing up of unprocessed emotions, capable of destroying life and what has been anchored with love? yes. Does it erode structures? yes. Mission in the Rain- <3 There was this fella dancing , waltzing to this number almost. Such free and easy peace. Nice to watch that beauty reflected in movement like a prayer. Black throated wind -I think of Brendan Byrne 3-16-89 show every time I hear it. because I was so into that song, listening to the Ace album everyday, to that song . It was my 9th show. and when it busted out - whoa. the whole place just lurched. I ran into friends gone to college in VA from our home sweet home, rejoiced in sweet reunion, and then shook it out to the LIG that followed…. That cha-cha and I grooved to LIG the first time I saw DSO as a special treat. Tease. Then teased again- Yes!! -Let it grow- The beautiful simply elegance of being grateful for what we are given and treating it with appreciation and gratitude. Playing finished it out, rising up quietly and circling around the crowd. Help - This, This! Slipknot - well crafted and loose at the same time. I had a feeling in my bones it was going somewhere else. Okay I TOTALLY BLISSED OUT— Lost Saint- (I heard Birdsong at beginning) Dark Star Drums.......no space ..... Dark star Other one Dark star Wharf Rat NFA MountainJam again NFAGDTRFB reprise NFA Can’t really add much to that setlist perfection- a double helping of sandwiches!- except to say the show had twinges of spanish caribbean flair. salsa here and there. I loved this second set. It was JUST RIGHT. Brokedown Palace- well…ok. After all that sunshine, this was a let down but ok. I hear ya.
