Will finally premiere at Sundance

http://liveforlivemusic.com/news/martin-scorsese-produced-grateful-dead-documentary-finally-premiere-date/

The title Long Strange Trip seems fitting, as it’s been years since a Grateful Dead documentary project was announced featuring director Amir-Bar Levy and producer Martin Scorsese. The documentary was initially planned to coincide with the Dead’s 50th anniversary in 2015, but was continually sidelined. Now, however, Deadline reports that the new documentary has been added to the Sundance Film Festival lineup.

This will be the world premiere of Long Strange Trip, which is set for the film festival between January 19-29. No word yet on the specific date that Long Strange Trip will be aired, but the festival is set to return to Park City, Utah.

The long-awaited documentary will chronicle the band’s 50 year history and more, including tons of footage from the Grateful Dead archives. Justin Kreutzmann, son of drummer Bill Kreutzmann, was also involved with the project.

We can’t wait for the wide release of this documentary!

"Produced by Martin Scorsese" tells us soooo little. If he directed it, cool, but you see this kind of deception in all movies now. At least he's not executive producer which means he tossed in a few hundred thousand for a movie credit. I saw a movie that said from the executive producer of lord of the rings for some crap movie. How many movies is Spielberg an executive producer on now? Like 10 a year? Producer is much more important than executive producer which means they tossed in cash or were tossed a title for some reason, so there is hope.

The one thing we can hope for is that Scorsese hasn't lost his integrity. Hes really not the type to attatch his name to a bullshit project. But I completely agree, them producer credits amount to very little and can be disappointingly misleading.

I loved him directing the Stones concert.  That was very cool.  Would have loved him to do the Dead 50 shows.  But it would have taken a little away from those shows with how many cameras he used on that concert.
