Billy DeLyon
Awesome show. Awesome day, I was in a golf tournament all day in the rain then cruised out to the Pat Garrett ampitheater. First time seeing a show there. Concerts have been few & far between at this venue through the years. Great setup, good sound, chill atmosphere. The rain was relentless during the first set. Dino needed an umbrella setup over the drums & at one point you could here Rob's keyboard short out & sound like it was gonna blow. Love the setlist, crazy amount of tunes. Some of those '72 shows can catch you off gaurd. You need to pack a lunch, at one point during the 1st set I overheard people saying "they must be playing a festival set one long set". Well that wasn't the case. DSO rocked late into the night. I wish I woulda had the will to head down the road to the Grateful get down to see the NRPS after show w/ Rob E. & Jeff. Very powerful show, I heard Rob E. before the show say it was just like Hershey 6/28/85. Still have a goal of riding the motorcycle to a show, this woulda been a candidate if Mother Nature cooperated but wouldn't have changed a thing, maybe next time. AudioPhile
Man that was some serious DSO fun. Pulled into the Mud and got out of the car when they were playing Brown Eyed Women, So I missed Promised Land I guess. Danced to Black Throated Wind and then listened and danced for a long long show.. Enjoyed talking to some Dude about Oaxaca, Mexico. I have been in Central PA for over a decade and have NEVER heard of the Pat Garret Amphitheater before, I was very impressed with this venue and sure hope DSO plays here again. The sound was awesome, the rain was heavy but with the proper attitude it just added to the adventure. I danced so much my quads are burning this morning. I seem to remember them playing White Rabbit to end the show. Am I recollecting correctly. I know that is not part of what the Dead did in 72, but it was a nice touch by DSO, after Comes a Time things got a little foggy. IS there any way to get a copy of this DSO show or of the 5/25/72 Dead Show? I do NOT own the Europe 72 complete Recordings. Thank you, for a Real Good Time.
