PG,

I enjoyed the show. I didn't let the talkers detract from my experience.

He cast judgment on pot smokers and the lost boys. I stick up for them no matter what. I found his post to be full of judgment. I wont stand for it and I don't appreciate those perspectives. I'm really surprised you do.

I'm glad he had a good show. I wish him all the best in his endeavors. I hope someday he learns not to judge.

The crowd was chatty. It was a shitty crowd. Facts are facts. Those aren't judgments.

Recentlyconverted,

Sorry if I was harsh out the gate. I'm glad you found a sweet spot I hope you invite me there next time. I do wish you wouldn't judge a book by his cover and learn to appreciate the beauty of the outlaw and all people. I loved the kids in polos that boogied.

I'm gonna move onto the next show. Providence was a get down dance party.

So thrilled to finally get a 60s show in Boston!

I first saw DSO in 2000 and am still amazed by their skill, dedication and passion for re-creating the Grateful Dead experience.

So grateful, indeed.

Yes, plenty of talkers and sounds like the scene on the floor was a bummer.

Pleased to report that only love, friendly vibes and plenty of dance space up in the Mezzanine!

To the band and crew, thanks for all you do.

Stay safe and healthy out there on the road and come back soon!

Hi everyone. A new person.... hello what is your name and what gifts do you have? The show last night was great. A lot of how highly we consider a show depends upon our own expectations, and having seen the band so many times, I really did not expect more than 'ho-hum, nice show.' So maybe my view of the band's performance should be taken with a grain of salt. That is cool... humble fella.

I thought it was really excellent. I had not seen a 60's recreation (based upon my immediate recollection), and enjoyed the different songs and the different approach  - as I perceived things - of the band. The jamming was never a lick too much, everything was tight. I was locked into the music the whole evening.

What is not to love in the above?? ?

Lastly, the crowd/atmosphere.

I can't speak to the dancing. My hunch is that it may have been a little less.

Obviously his perspective is very very different from what we children of the rug love

And there were a couple contingents of what my friend and I dubbed the "Real Hippy Housewives of Boston." HAHAHA  The crowd was on the quieter side. But attendance was solid - especially for mid-week -  and the crowd was very attentive from what I saw (I was 2nd floor but floated a bit). That bodes well seemingly.

I did not see any ties at all, and thought it was only a moderately cleaned-up crowd.  Not sure what this means

For me, I prefer at least moderately cleaned-up crowds because, in my experience, that is an indicator of there being less posers, punks and junkies. So that was not a problem to me.

Obviously, I can't speak for him. Maybe it is a comment about the norm for Boston. I am sure the mode of dress there is different. I mean, on the other foot,  I live in the land of Lilly Pulitzer so a crowd without this usually means good things for the openness and fun of the crowd. lol It is such an open ended stereotypical statement without a good compass point~ I ignore it. Whatevs....... Judgement is a mind hangup. Ego stuff. No heart song to be found there so the blather carries nothing to resonate with,  except darkly. You can;t fight darkness with darkness

I thought the venue was good. In 2011 or 12 I think, the Wilbur basically let everyone smoke pot. I found it a bit offensive, Maybe he is allergic. Those people do exist. Furthermore~The crowd at the Dead and Co shows were so different. I had a blast at Spectrum and DC- clearer air; The Greensboro and Atlanta shows were so smokey ( seriously a fog hovered in the whole place) that I had asthmatic repercussions and I left before 2nd set from my sweet ass seats with my daughter at her first GD show of any incarnation in Atlanta because neither of us could breath. It was awful. I was cautious too because at the 20th Warren Haynes Christmas Jam the smoke was so thick I develop full blown access in lower left lobe of my lung (pneumonia) that would have hospitalized me had the doctor not known I would take it easy and care of myself. It took me 6 weeks to recover and the whole atmosphere was lawless. This atmosphere emboldened the worst elements of the crowd / scene to, well, be themselves.

Maybe there were a lot of partiers out of control in his experience. Not respectful of others... IDK There was a girl so high on NO that she fell down on me at Jubilee. ( the NO came out of lungs at such a high concentration there was no O2 left and she passed out. Absolutely oblivious. That stuff causes neuropathy and destroys fine vasculature in your extremities like the CO in tobacco. Forget good orgasms after a while. the man is on viagra and the woman's partner can't take her places.) In Asheville, we had a drunk throw a whole beer all over us) This kind of partying is unacceptable.

Last night they obviously tightened things up, maybe but I did not sense or observe any hard-ass stuff from the staff. awesome This worked for me also.

Great work by the Band! YAY!!

"I've seen DSO many times so I expected a ho-hum experience"?????? Justify that one pg. I'll translate. I've seen DSO man times and wasn't impressed so I was surprised when they impressed me tonight. Whole post is nonsense. "This is cool..he's a humble fella" is a pretty strange interpretation. Those are the kinds of translations in war that get schools bombed. You are an amazing person Jenn, but your translation skills need work. I won't even go into the junky, punk and poser comment again. I may call someone a punk who's stealing or trying to burn people but the judgement on the others is a little too thick to be interjected into this community. Is he going to start calling Jerry and Bobby junkies next?? But I'm past this show. Providence restored my faith in the northeast. The crowd dressed and acted like they wanted to get down. As good as a crowd gets. And rob b I think it was even said after the show you guys were a great crowd and the band doesn't do that much but last night we fed them all the juice we had and it was definitely appreciated. We had people stage left who were prob never dancers, boogieing down. They saw us all get down and were like I won't look any weirder than these guys so might as well. I likely started the judgement thing but I based it mostly on actions. I didn't say it was the rich men in their summer homes in their suits that sucked the energy from Boston. They may have been bankers and brokers but I won't try to assume. Now to get another hour of sleep before the next shows. Sorry for interjecting negative energy into the board. Maybe I need to just avoid all negativity. Last night took it mostly away but sometimes my need to argue/debate/analyze overcomes reason. 2 more shows then back to my happy home. Not lonesome but a long ass way from home.

On another note, I have so much more respect for these guys who do long tour runs. It's definitely a young mans game. love the rest of u guys and can't wait til we get to boogie together down south this summer. We definitely won't be having a similar convo after BM.

Ok I will because I like you.

 HIs "interpretation with a grain of salt" :excl: ....... he doesn't see himself as a music aficionado.- says it himself,,,....did you enter the realm of GD a fully evolved deadhead???... obviously he got something that sparked within, something moved him to walk a little on further down the path. that is cool. I like progress, :excl:

ugh.

If you really get it, then You foster the good. An ambassador of the light.

Look. Why we still talking about this. He shared his experience. We shared ours. Several of us said we were harsh and allowed his judgment to create that within us. I've moved on. I hope you will to. The music and not the polos should be talked about.

The music without the space is only worth so much. Simply knowing what show they are going to play and how great the setlist is isn't enough to get me to the wilbur in Boston. Happy to be sitting in the California sun. Enjoy Hampton, have some fond memories of that place

Was I at this show?

No but your clone was dancing in that balcony box.  Those were scary times up there.  The railing came to my shin.  If you were sitting cross legged on the floor, that rail would keep you safe.
