Goop
Hey guys, Quick question for everyone. I've been dying to hear the Help On The Way > Slipknot > Shakedown that DSO did in Richmond back in December. I haven't seen a recording of that pop up yet. That being said, can anyone recommend a DSO show or GD show that contains that same sequence? I've done some searching online, but so far I've only found Help > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower. Is that something the GD ever did or is it something DSO started? Sorry for the newb question. And I appreciate any help you guys can provide! Goop Not sure there are any Help > Slip > Shakedowns publicly available but DSO has done it a time or 2 before I think. GD never did that combo so it is decidedly a DSO thing. Other iterations include Help - Slip - Stanger and Help - Slip - Tangled as well. The GD did split up Help - Slip a few times before including the likes of Samson, and a Help - Slip - Fire in 1991, I think. Didn't see any tapers in Richmond that night so I'm not sure if that show will surface. That opening wail on Shakedown was indeed a thumper
Forum MVP Rude Posted April 8, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 I got to see a help slip tangled. Juicy!!. I had a streak of 3 straight shows where it was a help slip and not Frank. Lately I've gotten the Frank every time. I'll try to find one and send u a link.
Goop
Thanks guys for the help! Man I could've sworn I saw a taper at the Richmond show, but maybe not. I just remember that Shakedown intro and the crowds reaction was just insane. Any suggestions on a favorite Shakedown, with that same thundering intro? Forum MVP Dead duck Posted April 8, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 Jubilee 3? I think they did a help slip shakedown. Also think it was available on nugs at one time. Not sure how long shows stay up
Forum MVP John A Posted April 8, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 You want a thundering intro to Shakedown? Go directly to Springfield 1-15-79, the transition out of Need A Miracle. Regarding Help-Slip-Franklin's, Tea is correct that once those songs were linked together the only time Franklin's didn't follow Help-Slip was Fall '91 at the Boston Garden when they did Fire. The story I heard on that was Hornsby complained that everything they did was too predictable so Garcia told him to pay close attention during the opening part of set 2. Cool story if that is true. As for DSO, I have it on good authority that the Help-Slip-Franklin's to close the 1st set last night in Berkeley was one for the ages.
Forum MVP John A Posted April 8, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 edit: they also split Slipknot with drums>Samson 10/9/76, but Slipknot still went directly into Franklin's.

Pretty sure saw DSO do that recreation at black mountain in 2014. Was dancing next to tea and being the guru he is, he's like this is the Boston show. Goop
Thanks guys. I went and got the Dead show from 1/15/79 to check out that Shakedown. And Nugs still has the DSO show from the Jubilee, so I'll check that out too. I also found a Help > Slipknot > Shakedown that Joe Russo's Almost Dead did in January 2015 at the Brooklyn Bowl.
