Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted December 4, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted December 4, 2015 I was at the riverfront colosseum, December 3rd Who concert in 1979. It wasn't general admission that killed the 11. Barry Fey of feyline productions oversold and under staffed, then left town. Selling 22,000 tickets when it was slated for 18,000 @ that time and they only opened 4 sets of doors at 7:30 for an 8 o'clock show during the Quadrophenia movie debut tour..they were also trying out reserved seating, selling lower arena seats for the first time. We got in but three kids from my high school died...both Jackie Eckerle and Karen Morrison were 15, like I was, and Stephen Preston , better known as Pipps was a senoir. Wrecked their families lives, general admission for the east coast, and devastated the who. The city blamed the kids issuing no smoking from then on and stopped GA, which conscientiously continued in the west, esp when Bill Graham was producing. Hampton colosseum kept GA in the east. Not DSO related, but I wanted to share this with all you concert goers. Thanks for letting me forum
