Last Esau played.

"The more my brother looks like me, the more I understand,

The silent war it bloodied both our hands.

None of us can win.

Outside that dream, still that hairy man.

Well sometimes at night I think I understand.

Shadowboxing the apocalypse, wandering the land"

Wow! I must admit I envy all of you who are fortunate enough to be out on this tour. The shows sound like they have been consistently superb and perhaps even on a new level of creativity and playing. I am, of course, looking forward to the eastern shows  coming up. I need me a dose of fine live DSO. But there is something very magical about the west coast and the musical history of our genre out there. I had a dream a couple of nights ago that I was out with the band at the Oregon Country Fair, all decked out in glitter and feathers and I sure would be happy just to have this dream come true. Everyone keep on rocking in the west!!!  :dsorocks:

I will second that emotion, Evangeline!

As far as new levels...the tail end of Music Never Stopped last night went to intense levels of something or other...perhaps a larger than usual radius of where shrapnel from the roof landed...

Yes! Love! Found a ride to the next one! More in morning, kiss kiss! That looks like rain was so niiiiiiice.....

Yes, that Looks Like Rain deserves mention.  Glad you found your ride!

I was front row balcony on Jeff's side about 1/2 way back. Skip's bass only started really being a force at some point during the second set. Sound was OK, but nothing like at Sonoma last weekend.  That place, at least just front of board, was dialed.

At one point in set 2 I looked down and surveyed the crowd, only to see SVT doing her thing on the rail in front of Rob B and Mango doing his clear across stage in what looked like a sweet little alcove next to Skip behind a small woofer stack.  You guys are awesome! And the crowd needs all the positive energy it can get.

And it was good to meet you Island Bro - did you make it to Toronado on the way back to the hotel?!?

The 80's double had many gems within for sure.

I agree that the Looks Like Rain was something special this night as well as the Terrapin. It should also be noted that both nights were extremely strong Barracco nights in that feisty Brent kinda way--seriously good shit he was laying down throughout both these '87's.

What Lisa does with Strange Man is truly beyond words...I had seen that one other time and all I can say is that that is some otherworldly, bring you to your knees kind of juju...WOW!!

Always had plenty of dance space at both nights of Regency which is crucial. Even right up in front there were pockets to make use of...

And Miss Velvet Thunder--I really dug dancing around with you during all those first sets. I appreciate how you hold down the energy up there at your consistent post on the rail--you are an anchor and your presence and dancing truly helped me out more than you'll ever know--thank you!

This was a fantastic weekend journey to the Bay Area for me to catch three on top of the one at Eugene last week. All these shows worked their medicine on me, although I did have a particularly enjoyable night of clarity at the '72 show in Redwood City which is a fantastic venue and a pretty easy going small town to cut loose in for DSO. Sure, I love '72 in general, but that night all the variables lined up in a way that led to tremendous focus on the music with almost no distraction. I just felt like I could hang out with every note and reach out and take a bite out of it...it was easy to contact and touch if that makes any sense at all...and of course the music was playing the band so damn good! That was my 2nd time at a Redwood City show for DSO and i hope to be at more in the future. Having a gig or two down there really balances the energy and intensity of the inner urban SF shows.

And it certainly was a bonus to have Hardly Strictly happening this weekend...to get to be in Golden Gate Park and catch Peter Rowan band, Hot Tuna Electric, and Gillian Welch w/Dave Rawlings, among others, made it even more of a dreamy weekend...! Free music in the park by day,,and a reelin and a rockin come night time--dang! Got saturated with mucho good live music in a 72 hr period.

So I probably won't be in for treatment again until the spring when DSO rolls back up to the NW,,,but for now my cup is full and I am filled with gratitude for how good I feel after catching these shows--ready to enjoy the fall now and be with winter when it comes now that I've had my essential musical vitamins. Once again,,huge thanks to band and crew and everyone for showing up to be with this music and keeping it all rolling...I am so thankful to get to participate in this amazing Renaissance era...!
