Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted November 11, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 Trump likes celebrities too. Read letter from bill belicheck and said Brady supported him. I think hilary celebrities may have hurt her. Springsteen pretends to be a champion of the people but he is so detached from the people's current struggle he comes off phony. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted November 11, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 Corporations do what's good for them. They will sell you anything you buy but they can't force you to buy. Change comes from the ground up. Not from the top. I support emissions standards by the way but I believe the consumer Iif educated and willing can set the standards. You really do believe government can fix all!

Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted November 11, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 I'm certainly for less federal government. Emission standards should be set by the state. More local and state government less federal would be great.
Advisory Board Dr. Barry Posted November 11, 2016 Advisory Board Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 And further, if anyone actually cares enough about anything and wants to change someone's mind about their political choices, it would be more effective to come at it in a respectful way. Realize that most people have their opinions set and are not going to be swayed by any opposing views. Realize that anyone who may be open to a different view will be completely turned off if they perceive you as smug, holier than thou, self righteous, preaching, more intelligent, etc than they are. That's a recipe for the door being shut in your face. If anyone really wanted to discuss a sensitive subject with the goal of swaying an opinion the only way is to come at it with respect for the other persons opinion and the validity that it holds for them. To drop any hyperbole and statements that are sure to offend. To avoid name calling and attributing stereotypes. Otherwise what you are doing is simply ranting to hear yourself rant. It may be cathartic but it won't win any hearts and minds. Those with opposing views hold them with the same conviction. Anyone who wants to effect change in others needs to try and do it in a way that might be effective. Dr. B

Advisory Board Dr. Barry Posted November 11, 2016 Advisory Board Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 Idiot, idiotic promises, any person with a brain, crazy, remedial math, nonsense (x2), and legal idiot. That's just in one short post. Ranting or trying to sway opinion? Even if just ranting to let out some steam, we are all friends here. Nobody likes to be called those things. You can be upset about politics, but I think best to go easy on insults and name calling. Barry
Forum MVP bs69 Posted November 11, 2016 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 Rude just needs a little time to blow off steam and he will be OK. You could easily read his posts about the donor class and elite and think he was talking about Clinton, because her being perceived as such certainly hurt her. The biggest appeal Trump has is that he doesn't owe any political favors. Â One thing that this election has certainly shown is that this is a diverse country with many differing opinions and that is what makes it great. I think a lot of the angst from the left is over the fact that they thought they had it in the bag and Tuesday was a formality, then got punched in the gut. Â I think Rick hit the nail on the head, change needs to come from the ground up, people don't like to be told that they have to do something, better that they want to do something. My doctor tells me that I should try to make some changes to my diet and get more exercise. I'm trying because I know it will help me, but if I were ordered to a strict diet I would surely rebel. Forum MVP Rude Posted November 11, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 11, 2016 No I don't Dr B. But I believe a large portion does.  Here's why I really despise the GOP. They want a populace that doesnt know or understand the facts.  Lets take Planned Parenthood. 95% of republican voters have zero clue about them. Let's look at it from a doctor's perspective. Planned parenthood performs medical services that can be billed to medicare and medicaid such as STD screenings and the like. Insurance reimburses them for these services. The entire GOP wants to not pay them for these services like they pay any doctors because they also perform abortions. Imagine that the GOP doesnt like a service you perform and then says we wont reimburse you for any services, not just the ones we dont like. Now medical services become political. They used their uneducated populace who thinks that we are giving PP money for abortions. This is reckless.  Lets take another issue like gay marriage. The GOP wants to appoint an ultra conservative judge to overturn this so that the gays do not enjoy the same rights as others do even though it has ZERO effect on heterosexuals. They want to force their Sharia law on the rest of America. They say states rights but we see what happens when states handle their own civil rights issues. And why should a state government be able to infringe on the minority's rights? If they did, then blacks still couldnt come into many restaurants in the south.  With the biggest wage gap in years, the GOP with a straight face proposes to cut the taxes on the wealthiest while cutting food stamps and other services to the poor. Trump started out differently on this issue proposing higher taxes on the rich but flipped when the GOP was going to withdraw support. Then he comes up with the largest proposed tax cut in history. Deficits be damned.  The entire GOP platform is only targeted towards the extremely wealthy or the religious zealots who want to impose their beliefs on America. Abortion could very well become illegal again which will lead to more deaths of women. Voting rights act laws that protected unscrupulous states who created policies to target poor voters will again be enacted. Environmental protection and clean water and air acts will be repealed. Anything that is good for the people but may cost billionaires a few percent will be gone.  Billion dollar corporations help get right to work laws enacted to destroy unions in poor areas. The only reason these people can make a living is because the bargaining power of unions and they want these destroyed.  The GOP passed a law in 2003 that said Medicare is not allowed to negotiate drug prices with the drug companies. They are required to pay whatever the drug companies want to charge. This is one of the most blatant frauds they have committed. There is a reason drug companies made over 50 billion last year. The GOP believes if anything funnels money to the rich it is good. Im not saying the dems are angels, but this is some messed up stuff. Forum MVP Island Bro Posted November 12, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 12, 2016 Final numbers still trickling in,, So far Clinton received approx 400,000 more votes in this country than Trump... Time to let go of the Electoral College system if we have any notion of a straight up, fair system of voting for president... Not a partisan issue whatsoever...just simple logic that anyone can follow---majority rule, please

Forum MVP Rude Posted November 12, 2016 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 12, 2016 Sorry if I offended people. This was the worst political season in many of our lives with so much hatred. I think this whole thing may have upset me more than I realized. I need to quit reading online news. I've also scoured too many sites like Breitbart and the commebts represent the worst of America. So much hatred and vitriol and violent talk that I've taken too much to heart. I read all the racist hate speech on those sites and I've projected too much. too many are celebrating this election as the beginning of a white supremacy agenda which I know will not be the reality. I'm also in an area where I see the deplorable people too often. People are open with their racism in rural KY. They see this as a victory of whites over other races. The hate for obama here was mostly race based. I'm sorry for any comments that any of you thought were directed at any of you. They weren't.
