Show was great. Place sucked for space.

DSO has just about out grown Varity Playhouse. They have been playing there for many years and probably have good relations with the venue which might keep them in the house. The neighborhood, "Little Five Points", is full of hip shops and restruraunts (even a hooka bar next door). They could move shows downtown to the larger Tabernacle and sell that old church out too. I would prefer they stay at Variety, partly because I used to live right around there and it always like going back home to the playground.

peace and Love,

Doc

I've noticed that they are generally playing the biggest GA venues. The only way to add more room is theaters with seats and that's no good. I'd rather be cramped than have a seat in front of my stork legs.

I think the Fox may be too large. They know it is crowded and I think they will try to make it better for us dancers. They've had a long standing relationship with the variety playhouse and I'm sure it's not easy on the business end to close that relationship. I don't think I will be back at the playhouse though.

This was a 'make the best of it' kind of show. Dancing circumstances were not ideal at all. A red eye flight the night before didn't help. Atlanta was the convenient place to fly so we hit the show.

And a cool show it was! Unique in my DSO experience. Kind of a strange flow to the second set...but I think the band did a good job of recreating the feel. Eventually I burst into the aisle to have more space (though heavily slanted). The security guards allowed me and my friend to dance there but not others. Perhaps they could sense the urgency in our dance...I was always trying to remain very conscious of people passing by.

This show would have been super killer at Pisgah. Oh well.

I had the right plan for this shows. My friends convinced me it was different. I ended up on a plane I didn't like so I took a friends an advice and moved myself to another plan. I had a good night. The drive up to black mountain was a lot of fun.

our drive to blk.mtn. was no joke. glad u still had a good nght. i know i sure did. sharing the same space with these friends and this band is exctly where i want to be. last year's space was definitely made bigger by having cnjbrian on our platform as a buffer literally not even letting people in at times. but i was happy to see u suck it up MC and have some fun. and man the nissan rental. that rental car had no idea what was about to go down

1970 recreations sure are rare. i remember dwntwn tampa in 2010 was my first and prob only other one, and have a very differnt feel to them..Truckin acoustically, whaa? my highlghts were China Rider, SOTOTW, Easy Wind, Me and my uncle and finally had most space and fun with the Greatest with Lisa, who crushed it like always..love her dearly

idk aaron if this show wouldve fit rght at Pisgah -that wwouldve been an acoustic set with all that beautiful space.. more like the WheelerOpera house in Vail or that spot in Steamboat

speaking of frat boys...and, this prolly should go under dewey beach but wont....PRETTY certain Mattson quoted "my frat boys and your frat boys sitting by the fire " or perhaps doing something else? anyway, maybe i was hearing things because of the difficult setting in Dewey but thought I heard him say this....and understand why!!

I've heard him sing parrot instead of parasite in a Visions and listening to the board it was definitely show me someone who is not a parrot and I'll go out and say a prayer for him.

Dude. Darby dad was there. He may be up there in age but those kids didnt stand a chance. I don't fight out of my own principles and they certainly weren't worth breaking my principles for. They just came to the show to drink. Many others in many venues have the same intention. We would be fighting a lot. Not worth it.

I had been telling my boys for a week that I was finally gonna get my half acoustic half electric show Friday at black mountain. I said "I can just feel it. It's coming." Before I hit the road Friday I checked the Atlanta set list and my heart sank. Missed it by 1 freaking day!!! It took some wind out of my sails, but only briefly. As I was on the road my excitement returned and it was a top notch perfect weekend. Plus to look on the bright side, it's nice to still have something to "chase".
