sandune
My birthday is July 30th and my lady and I are headed to Pocahontas for both shows! It's gonna be a blast. We are leaving Thursday and staying until Sunday, taking the RV and the canoe and just gonna live, laugh and love. Sure hope it doesn't rain like it did last year. We got soaked while dancing and woke up to water in the tent! No tent for us this year...
darkstar
Me too! Where is there rv camping at this point in time?
wharfrat48
I think the regular campsites are sold out. Anyone know if there will be an opening band on Sat? Website says doors open at 2:00, but only lists DSO. Maybe a super long set
Late to the party
The opener is the Jeff Austen band with Peter Rowan

Forum MVP GoingBackTo Where.... Posted July 25, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 25, 2015 It is has been a rainy summer in this neck of the woods...so I would prepare all you star heads. Really will be fun seeing many faces smile, and their bones shaking and quaking!!! I hate my shows are slowly fading further and further apart. Gping to be a sad trend...but makes it so much more memorable...as the heart does grow fonder!!!!
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted July 25, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 25, 2015 We will bring appropriate gear for rain. Thanks for heads up. Maybe even have a five dollar (I'll give it to ya for a hug) spare poncho or two. I'm not going to let the rain interfere with my experience again this time. We won't end up shirtless in the rain again.
darkstar
Curious, in the primative camping is there ice for sale. Are there any food venders? Oh and can you leave the theater and draft back to the campsite in between sets?
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted July 26, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 26, 2015 Food vendors in the show area. I don't think so in primitive camping but I don't know maybe someone has more insight.
darkstar
Thanks I'll try to pack accordingly.
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted July 26, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 26, 2015 It's a long way from campsites to venue. Through the Canterbury forest. They had shuttles last year.

wesposey
^^^lets hope!!!! I hope I see more of a shakedown street outside of the actual amphitheater as well!
Forum MVP Teacher Matt Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 No shakedown with the state park police presence very visible on the outside ...
Forum MVP Tea Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 Shakedown Street there would take on an unfortunately literal manifestation there
wesposey
Yea unfortunately I think your right. But nonetheless I'm very excited for round two of Pocahontas. I wonder if DSO is going to pull out a JGB setlist. It is Goin to be Jerry's Birthday weekend!
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 I would say no JGB setlist. Eaton back on tour now and fans want GD. I bet you get a song or two in an elective if one of the two is an elective but unless Eaton comes down sick again. I would expect them to play mostly GD material. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 There's always something shaking but in a VA state park you really got to poke around.
wesposey
Yea that's a good point! If they do pick that elective, i hope they would choose "The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down"! That would be incredible encore!!!
stevus
can someone who went last year tell me about the camping situation? i have a 2 night camping ticket and my gf is coming down saturday. they aren't selling single day camping anymore. she called the park and asked if she could camp my tent and they said no. i guess my question is, will they even know? do they check wristbands in and out of the campground? does she need a mirror hanger to park her car overnight? they weren't real nice over the phone, to be honest... Forum MVP Tea Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 From what I know you have up to 6 people per site and 2 vehicles. The State Park phone reps need some sunshine shoved up where the sun don't shine
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted July 27, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 I'd be worried about the car. I don't think she could board a shuttle but if you could find another mode of transportation to camp. I think you could smuggle her in. Just thoughts.
