liquidsmoke
Beer served and there should be food carts. This is a dream come true for me especially considering that Madison was hopped this winter. Thanks DSO! Local jam band Grasshoppers is playing for free inside the Majestic theater into the AM. Milwaukee is 2 days after.

Forum MVP Rude Posted June 5, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 5, 2015 Maybe Scott walker will introduce the band. What a good guy. Heard he's trying to get u guys with a bicycle tax b/c it hurts the Koch brothers oil sales. True story at least on that part. Don't think he'd be caught dead at a dead show unless it's preaching the evils of thinking for yourselves outside the show. /end political sarcasm. Sorry but I despise that tool and couldn't help myself.
liquidsmoke
Walker is a Crony Capitalist POS. Thankfully he's smart enough not to show his face much in town. In fact he is actually scared of the citizens of Madison, he thinks we want to tar and feather him and worse and he's right. I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out here with the Republicans in control, mosquitoes on the loose, and bitter cold winters. West coast is a callin'. Forum MVP Rude Posted June 6, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 6, 2015 Walker is a Crony Capitalist POS. Thankfully he's smart enough not to show his face much in town. I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out here with the Republicans in control, mosquitoes on the loose, and bitter cold winters. West coast is a callin'. Did you see how walker tried to change the mission statement of the state university system from something like in search of knowledge and truth to getting people ready for the workforce. That horrible liberal idea that knowledge for the sake of learning cannot be tolerated. For years the right has been demonizing higher education b/c if people were educated they would see the entire purpose of these governors and legislators is to make their rich cronies richer and keep the money flowing to their campaigns. Cut 300m from colleges while dumping a 300m windfall back to the people who don't need it. Argue against them and they will call you socialists not having a clue what that word means. I have to give it to them. I talked to some min wage workers on Election Day 2008 and said did u vote for Obama. They said hell no. He wants to raise our taxes. Mitch McConnell voted against the min wage increase 19x and had the nerve to lie to these poor people telling them that and they bought it lol. If you have the poor voting for you when your policies will keep them poor, your propaganda machine is brilliant. The red states are in general the most uneducated and for their dominance to remain they need to keep them uneducated. It was easy with Obama b/c people in the south are racist. Not sure what happened with Wisconsin which isn't as poor or uneducated.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted June 6, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 6, 2015 We should stop paying politicians. It should be a volunteer service to society position. Yes, they will still abuse power but less will get involved simply to do so. I'd rather those making decisions were still active members of society. Teachers, doctors, farmers, etc still practicing their trade. Theyd be more in touch w the people and the positions would attract people less corrupted by greed. Forum MVP Rude Posted June 6, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 6, 2015 It's not the pay. It's the campaign donations. The Koch brothers have openly said they plan to spend 900 million to help elect a republican president. Sorry to help buy the presidency. If you want their help you have to enact policies that benefit them. Once you leave office is when you reap the big bucks. Plus most senators are already rich. They don't need the 200k a year. Isn't the Kansas governor taking a $1 annual salary anyway and he's the worst there is.
liquidsmoke
Nothing Republicans propose or do surprises me anymore... Yup, consume don't think, worship the 'job creators' who are the only ones who should be well paid, cut my taxes to nothin' since teachers are babysitters why should they make more than me, trillion dollar wars, rape the environment, god and guns, gays are subhumans, lock up black men for profit, etc....  We should stop having politicians rule us from the top down and organize the world horizontally through councils. Left/progressive capitalists would be a much better alternative than what we have now however.
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted June 9, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 9, 2015 My only concern about the councils and participatory democracy is that within the vanguard of the revolution some animals may still be more equal than others. liquidsmoke
I have many concerns about participism. No philosophy is perfect. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted June 9, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 9, 2015 Stop politician pay is a small part of major political finance reform. Â We should limit total amount of money spent for an election. Â Much stronger restrictions on who can give and what is the maximum donations. Â I even think we need to take the TV out of politics. Â Campaigns should be based on ideas and ideas come across way better with written thought then they do in 30 second sound bites. Â Hell most sound bites are negative campaigns. Â Of course, I don't expect any of this reform. Â Â Mire importantly, we as a people need to work to create a society that needs less government. Â Stop accepting handouts. Â Produce your own food. Â Build homes with your neighbors. Â Provide more for yourself and work less. Â Thus, pay less taxes and take money away from the budget. Â The money coming into the government and the money coming out from the government is too large. Â The government is too big and republicans and democrats have you fooled. Â They play for the same team and they look out for each other. Â Its a fraternity of politicians. Â Get rid of incumbents. Â Maybe 1 terms limits. Â A lot would need to be tried to fix this system. Â The system is broken and its not just the republicans. Â I feel pretty passionate about throwing these ideas around. Â They are only that just ideas. Â Some plausible some not. Â None of them possible when those in office control their salary and campaign finance reform. Â They have no incentive to change it. Â Â

Downbythedocks
Not big on the political talk. Want to redirect to tonight's show...with the tour kicking off, and the reunion shows taking place the next 2 weekends, any chance they play the set list from Jerry's last show tonight? Also, I'm hoping the crowd is managed better than Ziggy last year. They gated off the area, and kept some folks out (not me thank goodness). But, the gates didn't allow anyone to use the porto potties, and once you leave, you're out. Hope they figured that out for this show. Heading to the Cheeba Hut for 4:20 happy hour before the show. Just down state street, off Gilman I believe. Good eats, and good vibes.

Forum MVP Rude Posted June 26, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 26, 2015 I think you'd need a miracle to get 7-9-95. Jerry wasn't Jerry in those shows. The playing is sad to listen to b/c through all the other early drug use, he was still brilliant, but it had taken it's toll by those last shows. He was just a shell of himself. Musically those soldier field shows are just sad shows knowing how far gone physically he was. I had fun on tour but I didn't know better at the time but listening now tells me the story of a great musician who maybe knew what was going to happen. I've always wondered if he knew his death was imminent and was resigned to that fact. Anyone with addiction issues now or past knows that the thought of death wasn't unwelcome. Downbythedocks
I hear ya on the last shows...although he wasn't on top of his game, the set list is worthwhile to hear, if nothing but an homage.still, looking forward to the show tonight. Should be a fun time.
ducats
go give the 6/18 wharf rat a listen. Isn't the 7/9 so many roads the only one (of what 50 or so?) he says lord in? Surprised u say didn't know better at the time. I KNEW that 6/18 show was my last ride, albeit we had been in the kiddy park for some time. I never heard the (until about 5 years ago)Â wharf rat that night-left at the first miracle notes, although new it was over after Stranger/Bertha opener, thought the big guy was gonna fall face down front row. FishyPhish
First of all, great band to work with. their stuff in and out went smoother than any other band i've worked with a comparable amount of gear to do. One thing i wish i had asked and this is my primary reason for posting, is is there information here in this forum perhaps about the equipment they use to faithfully recreate shows? They brought their own monitor and FOH boards ( along with monitors ). The mixing board that they use according to their crew was the most expensive ( also the largest and heaviest piece ) was basically their reasoning for requesting us ( 4 extra stagehands ). I wish i had asked more questions about that specific piece but I was there to work, not hold everyone up with my questions LOL! I'd like to learn what they do ( the more technical stuff ) to recreate the Dead's "Wall Of Sound"and what equipment they play on to achieve this also. Just trying to learn more about some of the stuff i've loaded for bands. Also, the band that played after inside the Majestic was awesome.
