Forum MVP found Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 as a terrapin freak, I'm happy to say the band recreated 3/18/77 and it was everything I hoped it would be and more

vbf3
Brooklyn Bowl is a great venue!!! Great show all the way around. As great as the first set was (Scarlet/Fire close!) the second set was even better, standout for me was the Brown Eyed Women/Good Lovin and the Terapin suite that ended in one of the best > drums I have seen. The Uncle Johns band for an encore just capped the nite!! The fall east coast tour seems way too far off at this point. Sigh...........
Forum MVP Tea Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 The GD original is one of my all-time faves! As a fellow Terrapin-lover, this one is really special and very powerful. I beleive this is also the show where Scarlett > Fire was debuted as a combo if I'm not mistaken. At Jubilee Night #3, I incorrectly thought the band was doing Alahambra - that was until the lyrics began and it was clear that At a Siding was being debuted. I'm glad they circled back and gave this instrumental portion its due. Happy to see this show surface and am hopeful that the band brings out the full Terrapin Suite from time-to-time. Coming out of my post-Jubilee blues - FINALLY. When work and home cooperate, I'll provide my .02 on Jubilee although MC hit the nail on the head with many of his observations. God only knows what kind of review we'll get once Steph has an opportunity to get Jubilized! Think dissertation. Congrats to the lucky ducks who were at The Brooklyn Bowl last night - sounds like a High Time
Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 So they only closed set one with FOTM 6x, 5 in 1977 and once in 1978, always with Scarlet lead in. First show of 77 which is this one, later 4/23/77 and then three in a row in May Funny I was wondering at the jubilee whether there are S>F closers first set. Got my answer, not as loudly as you lucky folks up in NY.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 Brian I think I've heard you say top 5 something or other about the show you were at at least 15 times over the last year. They can't all be top 5. It appears DSO is killing it. I remember when I first started seeing DSO and for like the first 80 to 100 shows every single one was better than the last. It just kept getting better. I know that really wasn't the case but it is definitely how I felt at the time.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 The first shows of 77 were Feb 26 and 27. 3/18 at Winterland was number 3 of 77. The first show 2/26/77 has the first Terrapin (1st set opener) and first Estimated. This show was the first fire and only alhambra.
Forum MVP John A Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 My guess is, based on the recreation of the 11/6/77 Truckin' jam I heard in San Francisco this Spring, that they tackled the Caution jam here during NFA and nailed it. Forum MVP August West Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 I didn't hear any Caution jam during the NFA, John. That was a sick show! Hurting at work today, but well worth the trip.
Forum MVP John A Posted June 2, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 2, 2015 August, Vortex explained on another thread in Kitchen Table that they didn't have time to do the NFA away justice. That's one nasty curfew!
Brian NJ
Yes Rick, The joy of getting older and and not remembering last month is that you always renew your top 5! This was in top five GoodTimes at show in at least the last 5 years.... Yes DSO is Killing it!!!!!!

I can't decide if I'd like a Terrapin Station first set, first thing ! I bet that show 2/26/77 was nuts. Probably i love Terrapin anywhere to be honest, in Dr Seuss fashion. I am definitely a fan of Morning Dew in the first set, though. Oh that was poetry. Just a gift so early in the night compared to late in the second when you know the show is approaching an end. Like getting a bonus check early.....DSO nailed it to the wall. Still floating on that dream.

Still floating on that dream. DSO did 2/26/77 a year or two ago in Portland--it was awesome. But yes, opening with Terrapin is a bit abrupt, but then we immediately knew what show we were in for and super psyched. This show was also the first Estimated played ever...a great historic show
