Forum MVP Island Bro Posted April 7, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 7, 2015 At the end of the show I had the sense that even the band members were surprised and in awe of what went down musically. Clearly a show where the music played the band at many moments throughout. Full band functioning as a brand new Japanese super train yet all individuals shined brightly at times in their solos and moments of leadership. Barracco jams all over the place and Eaton was clearly in his wild man mode just hitting it so hard and upping the ante at every turn and bend. Sunrise was a huge highlight for sure...Lisa was just breathtaking the way she nailed that and the response that she received from the Eugene crowd afterwards was THICK with love and appreciation...she was a bit overwhelmed, I think, with all the energy coming her way, but she soooo deserves to be brought under the huge waterfall of appreciation considering the gift she gave us with that one (and Strange Man in portland!). Her skills and voice are so unique and potent and I'm just thankful that dso is the place where she ended up as a way to express them. We are damn lucky to be the recipients of that kind of energy. Stella was a real gem minus one unfortunate disruptive blurt out which the band actually addressed at the end of the show,,but it was just a temporary distraction as they continued to navigate through sacred space so delicately. That was such a beauty and fed the energy in the room which was already saturated with love and good vibes. The jam out of Not Fade was just out of HAND...so rippin and nice and long just good ol' GD JAMMING to the max...get the download and see what you think--I intend to do the same, and I'll meet you out there in never ever land Candyman gooped us good...I'd take more of that any day. He's Gone was just so damn SMOOOTH and soulful it kind of left us empty and vulnerable but drums came along to rebuild us and find some structure to lean into,,, Around just went off in a way that rattles you to the core and heart rates definitely in the danger zone!! Completely off the hook to the point where I was almost freaked out by the notion of getting smothered by Casey Jones when he showed up. It was completely kickass and I think they actually went a little easy on us at the end compared to others which was appreciated considering how rattled we were from Goin Down the Road and Around.... All the rattling was smoothed out SO gracefully by the Weight on top of all of that. It was just lovely and made sure to end the show back in that thick Eugene love/open heart vibe...wow what a night And I haven't even touched on first set which was it's own shamanic journey of another sort but I'll let Supplicated or someone else weave some words on that... Aside from 4 kickass shows, I turned my compass back north toward home very satisfied, also, to meet another handful of forum folk. Fun to connect names with faces and mix the energies in the cauldron of Jerry. Damn fine peeps around here! See ya down the line,,,
Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted April 11, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Rewind!!!!! This was a very special show! We got a ticket for my homie who i dont see a lot anymore and he instantly called out Jeff's jerry guitar which made me super happy he was dialed in for the night! I could go to the Promised land with these guys over and over and never ever get tired of it! They deliver every time. I think it was this show that everyone was freaking out over Skip and Jeff's interactions all night until we turned the Jerry box off around 6:30am.... From the beginning it was perfect! Def a fave year/era for lots of dead heads and star heads so the place was def rocking!!! The cowboy duo made the crowd just lose it! Se cool to watch everyone having such a stomping good time!!! I was starting to really hit my groove and feeling really in the moment by BEW so it swept me away with all the tender love a girl could dream of!!! Gone are the days! Mmmmmmm..... Good ol namesake, that sweet ol loop of lazy lightning!!! The possibilities are REALLY getting frightening, lately!!! Something about excitation.... Seriously, I get really lost and found when they do this one and it was sizzling my soul right out of my concepts about it. Deal!!!!!! Perfect!!!!! Great setbreak w my buddy and the resounding decision NOT to sell shit the rest of tour cause I was having too much fun. My new vendor friends teased me HARD but a certain Mango taught me that we ALL deserve to treat ourselves to a lil VIP tour from time to time! this was it, I made my $ in boulder!!! Lol They certainly got in attack.... We all crawled up on the lions back together and the bees buzzing through the lions head were so tangible and LOUD! Candy an was sweet.... But that sunrise?!? Well, that sunrise just did everyone in!!! Lisa was breathtaking beyond imagining and the crowd applauded and hollered so loud afterwards that she had to bow a few times before we would stop! Like hippies never seen a sunrise before.... thanks, DSO! You gave Gabe one of the classic "i always skip this song, now I love it" super pure Dork Star moments! Great passenger but really just a perfect set up in our bodies and minds for the epic second set chain that started with he's gone.... My ego was stolen and i deeply felt all my brothers and sisters on the dance floor releasing every bit of self clinging, if just for one moment!!! Fave drums of tour i think (it's all rolling into one here in Hawaii and life is each moment becoming more and more of a dream...) and the NFA was a really sparkly sexy one!!!! Stella. Free bird guy- wtf? It's kinda ok the think it, but we never SAY it, much less SCREAM it right as the song is wrapping up... But wait. Jeff was NOT having it and despite the related heckling he took us back into the dream and out into one of the most majestic wrap up Stella solos ever played by hands of man!!!! The whole band was in on it and showed us just what happens when all the cards are down and nothing is left to see- gosh darn MAGICAL!!! Thank you!!!!! Gdtrfb and around n around summed up my life in that moment and I was so happy I began my usual, "crying w show almost over and laughing because nothing ever really begins or ends" routine that shows up after more than 3 shows in a toured I was grateful beyond words! I have such a deep appreciation for Casey jones and how it applies to the show energies that is hard to explain, but this one def kicked in my vibe of this!!! Lol! The weight wrapped it up so nice and I hope u all take my regards to everyone!!!!! Great afterparty w family after funny times w two trucks and lost keys a good show will make all that kinda shit really irrelevant n extraordinarily amusing!!!! Reminds me of my first DSO tour when everyone, including the car window, seemed to get busted! Lol We will survive!!!
Forum MVP HelpSlip Posted April 18, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 18, 2015 really great reviews Huck & Steph thanks for bringing me right back to such a kick-ass show. what an honor to share the McDonald (my first time) with so many amazing people i know and love yeah freebird guy was over the top ridiculously disrespectful...at a near silent moment in the song Stella Blue, he feels compelled to shout "freebird" gets a few laughs from those around him, so he decides to do it again a mere few seconds later ! loved Rob B. and Eaton calling him out before the encore though something along the lines of rob B. "oh hey to the guy screaming 'Freebird' yeah that's real cool" eaton - "Not."
