There is a Big Bird art piece of Jerry's depicted in a link on the Hunter article.

I especially got a kick out of Hunter saying they didn't get much from him on the psych piece for hypnosis. And who knew a jug could be such a momentous piece in directing your life? Just think, a gal brought those together for a lifelong relationship. :D

...., does anyone know if the pizza tapes were made right before JG passed?

Winki says,    "   In February 1993, Grisman was playing with Rice and invited Garcia to his studio. Over the nights of February 4 and February 5, the trio recorded what would be known as The Pizza Tapes.   "

Just read that Wimki also says....."In 2010, Grisman's online label Acoustic Oasis released The Pizza Tapes: Extra Large Edition offering 170 minutes of music, including 16 previously unissued alternate takes in addition to the original master takes in their original sequence. In addition to new music, the expanded edition also features more of the personal repartee that characterized the initial release."     Amazon lists this "The Pizza Tapes: Extra Large Edition" for $27....just added to my whis list.

If you are so inclined, you could download this for 23.70 (flacs - MP3's for 18.95) from the Acoustic Oasis site:

Jerry was in a good and happy place when these sessions went down - the music clearly reveals this.  Man of Constant sorrow and Long Black Veil from the original release are just fabulous.

Thanks for the tip, Tea.  Now that I got a new computer to replace the old and very slow one I could download but I prefer to have an actual CD with the case.  I'll probably get it from David Grisman's site, "Accoustic Disk"  (is that the same as the previously mentioned  Accoustic Oasis? ). I feel its better to support artists directly if possible.

Peace, Love, and Good Luck on this Friday the 13th

I love Drifting Too Far From The Shore and when he runs through the first verse of Always Late.  Shady Jam>Grove and So What make for some good interplay but honestly Jerry's vocals on this are absolutely stunning. You can't listen to it and not be filled with pure joy. Everything about it is soooo good.

Currently Toni Rice is having health problems and has set up for people to donate $10.00 while he tries to keep his arthritis down and be able to play another show. Apparently he's always been very generous with any musician who's joined him on stage, now he needs a little help just to keep the lights on

"Drifting to Far from the Shore" was also covered by Bob Dylan. I think it's on the very first album Dylan put out. In Martin Scorsese's film, "No Direction Home" they say that the young Bob Zimmerman listened to the song on an old 78 in the basement of his home in Minnesota. It's implyed that Dylan was much infulenced by " Drifting"
