Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted March 10, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 10, 2015 My buddy from dead days lives 5 blocks from the theater ~ I'll make a point of meeting you around the second tier rail P2. Super psyched for a multiple run of DSO, I'm really annoyed at the crap GDP is putting out , that whole Chicago shit made me feel like a loser. I'm keeping my merriweather memories of the two JGB shows of fall 1989.
Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted March 10, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 10, 2015 Good for you!!! i was at those Merriweather shows! Did you see the marshmallows thrown near the entrance? Laura and I were walking in and it broke out on the lawn while we were in the middle of it pre-show. Maybe actually as Rob Wasserman and Bobby were playing. It blew my mind. So fun!! That Midnight Moonlight and Don't Let Go sealed my affection forever of those tunes. Like a Road was sweet too. Just an incredible two days! I drove up from the university in SC with 3 other friends, 2 of whom I'd just met and one from the spring Atlanta shows at school where i entered as a freshman. I got in so much trouble for the mileage on my car. Just 17! lol. Best trouble I ever got in.

Forum MVP John A Posted March 11, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 11, 2015 The sleeper moment of those '89 JGB Merriweather shows was during the final verse of Lucky Old Sun. "Wash all my troubles away" is delivered with as much intensity and emotion as any single line Garcia ever uttered. I know that's a mightly strong statement, but check it out... Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted March 12, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions of songs from these shows, I remember being floored by the Dixie Down and Don't Let Go at the start of this tour,
Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted March 13, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 13, 2015 Merriweather was a noisy, vacuumy, space. When I went and listened to the first show today, I'm reminded of why I never play my masters, even though they were recorded FOB akg460's into a D5 using a horn hat , kinda boomy pavilion. Any soundboards around? Jerry does a nice introduction of the band members and plays outstanding, right out of the shoot with a how sweet opener deal closing first set. Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted March 13, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 13, 2015 Bring on Boulder!!! I've seen the recreate of 2 shows consecutive like the dead, maybe we'll get a three show run from Philly 85 or any other past gd 3 night run? Red Rocks?, Hampton? What would be your favorite 3-5 night series? How about Chinese New Year's run from 87? Greeks? Irvine? Expo?

It's a Pure Jerry release - there's a soundboard alright!! (Both nights on a 4 disc set.) My Schoeps->DAT FOB tape is pretty good. The mics were hand held on a Schoeps t-bar. Not an amazing recording, but quite playable.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted March 14, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 I'd love to see the a 3 night run from April 69 at the ark. Other than that, I would prefer no three night run. That always means 80s. Too many repeats in the early years. I would enjoy myself but feel I lost the lottery with 3 80s gigs in a row. I might be the guy heckling the band to play something psychedelic.
Forum MVP Mango Posted March 14, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 I don't like seeing recreations of multiple night runs; too predictable
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted March 14, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 I'd like to see them do recreations of each year in order, starting now with '65, for the next 30 years. I admit 2025 and first half of '26 would be a little lean but that would be the perfect time for some Terrapin Nation tours.

Advisory Board Dr. Barry Posted March 23, 2015 Advisory Board Report Share Posted March 23, 2015 I have a three night reservation at the Courtyard by Marriott which is 1.8 miles from the venue. Thursday check in through Sunday check out. I can't use the room. I got it through Priceline for $90 a night. I would be happy to "transfer" it at cost to anyone who needs a room. Just PM me. SunSue
Enjoy the shows, those that are going! I'm hoping there will be a stream for them. I've heard about one potential phone stream, but that's all. Does anyone happen to know if phonecert is still doing anything, or if any other streams or webcasts have been announced for this weekend?
