Forum MVP Tea Posted March 5, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 http://blackbirdmusicgroup.com/dear-jerry-celebrating-the-music-of-jerry-garcia/ I think this looks better than Fare Thee Well....... Lesh, Weir, Hart, Kreutzman, Hornsby, Stu Allen, Grissman, Jorma!?! WOW! NOTE: The Core 4 don't appear to be planning a full show at this event - my guess is that they will come together for a few songs tho. Looks like good times to me
Forum MVP bs69 Posted March 5, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 All in one day? That looks like a good festival lineup!
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted March 5, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 I would be a little concerned that each act is only gonna get a few songs. Lesh's kids can't play. Other than that. I think this event looks great. Well and the biscuits. They suck
Forum MVP Tea Posted March 5, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 Good point. While I think it could be a good time, there's not a ton of time for anyone to get it really rollin before next man up. You're also on point with the Lesh boys and DB's. Forum MVP Rude Posted March 5, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 Way too many bands. Seems like overkill. And why not do this at like golden gate park? Small ampitheater?

Forum MVP Tea Posted March 6, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 6, 2015 Way too many bands. Seems like overkill. Something seems a little off with this upon some reflection. It looks like this thing starts at 7pm (thought it would be an all-day deal) and MP has a hard curfew at 11. I guess each act will get maybe 2 songs before the next act? That doesn't move my needle much. The only other possibility would be one long rotating set with some band members cycling in and out. Either way, it doesn't excite me as much as it did originally. That coupled with Jubilee fast approaching, I would have to bow out. My curiousity is still piqued a little tho.
wesposey
Is there anymore infor being released about this soon? This is going to be amazing if they at least made it an "all day" event. It would be even better if they made it a sweet two day festival! I just want to see all these amazing bands, and of course the core four of the dead, without each set feeling rushed. I'm going either way since I can't make it to Chicago.

Forum MVP Mango Posted March 10, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 10, 2015 In light of all these discussion regarding the 50th anniversary shows, this, etc, I'll just say that I'm happy to have my favorite band be one that plays small venues. In general, I prefer the scene to be divided into many small scenes. We've already beens shown that when it gets too big that many problems arise. I totally agree that the small venues are the better entertainment for many reasons. When I was young I went to a number of big shows and festivals. That was fine at that time but for now the smaller shows is where it is at. Doc
Forum MVP Tea Posted March 11, 2015 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted March 11, 2015 Tried the Pre-Sale to buy some tix to sell for face to the faithful - even logged in 30 minutes early. Once I got 'my turn' (1 minute in) all Lawn and Pavillion were gone. I did get the chance to purchase a VIP ticket within the 1st 15 rows though. The price you ask? $500 Stones!!! Ummmmm.................No. I'll give it another spin on Friday. The upshot with all of this Core 4 maddness? Thank heavens for that
