Bottle & Cork, Dewey Beach, DE ~ Multiple Night Run?

Hey friends,

So I posted a topic a few months back regarding a multiple night run at Penn's Peak...and my wish came true! Thanks Dark Star! So I thought I'd post a new topic explaining why Dark Star should do a multiple night run at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, DE this August.

Ok so here's why a multiple night run (At least 2 shows, preferably more) at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, DE would be awesome for all parties involved:

1) Dewey Beach, DE is just a feel-good beach town! Not only is it cool for all the reasons you'd expect (beach, boardwalk in a neighboring town, good restaurants, etc.), but its extremely dog friendly! I mean dogs are allowed on the beach! How cool?! And there's even a really good outdoor breakfast place where you can bring your dogs and they hook the dogs up with fresh water and treats! Look...the reality is..many Deadheads, including myself, would love to plan a little vacation to Dewey Beach so that we could bring our dogs and catch a couple shows as well!

2) Bottle & Cork is a really cool venue! Its partially inside and partially outside...perfect for a venue that's one block from the beach! And they allow re-entry! I mean you can literally go take a nice walk on the beach during set break!

3) Playing multiple nights in Dewey Beach would mean that the band, crew, and management could all hang out in Dewey Beach a couple days and it could be like a little mid-tour vacation for them! These guys (and gals) work extremely hard and being on the road so much must be stressful, so why not just post up in Dewey Beach for a few days and enjoy the beach and the town and get some much needed rest and relaxation?

4) Finally, I think a multiple night run in Dewey Beach is appropriate because last years show (which was awesome by the way) was sold out and I know a decent amount of people were left hanging without tickets. Furthermore, there were many deadheads in the hotel we stayed in and I know that almost everyone who makes the trip to Dewey would stay for multiple nights and would get tickets to every show. All this is just to say that adequate ticket sales wouldn't be an issue...I would bet that every night would be a sell out or near sell out. (Plus, I know Dark Star has done multiple nights in Dewey Beach in the past.)

So what do you doods think? I mean...is this a good idea, or is this a good idea? As with Penn's Peak, maybe if we get enough people talking about it, it may become a reality!

Everyone have a Grateful day!

PennT-Roll~ I resinated with everything you wrote about beach towns.   Everything you wrote applies to Hampton Beach, NH as well.  At HB, as long as you don't drive a vehicle with anything in you, you are free to party, even on the beach during the day.     The magical thing is folks get to arrive on day 1, the earlier the better to bask in on the beach, go to the show and wake up at the beach again the next day and have *all day* at the beach before going to the 2nd night show.   Day 2 at the beach and show is my favorite day of the 365.   Even the years it rained it was great to reconnect with the ocean "prana" and DSO by the waterside.   Tuition keeps me from Jamaica, the realest beach towns

The occasional one night run at Hampton from the past were rough even though the shows are always outsanding.     Great that cornfed confirmed this years run at The Cork.  Grateful the last few years at HB have been 2 night runs including the one to come in June.  Thanks DSO!    Thanks Penn, you got me thinking maybe wife and I will visit Dewey Beach in early August.

On a totally unrelated topic~ it's great seeing some old "faces" from the past on this board, again.

Just read August West's reply, but still submitting my 2 cents :)

Lord knows they have done 2 night runs at DB before. The experiences for some of us can politely be described as "adventurous." I prefer HB for reasons that I will keep to myself, although DB does have a nice connection with really good AC memories. In either locale you get behind the wheel after the show at your own peril.

I am 124% in favor of this! What an awesome little town Dewey is and Bottle & Cork is really great! So amazing that they allow re-entry making a gorgeous walk on the beach mid Dark Star show possible! I really love that the outdoor portion of the venue has palm trees swaying above you at parts and you can smell the beach...awhh just such a great time! Like T roll said...you guys have a following that WILL come to see you at Dewey and I can assure you that no one will just come for one night (especially since most people are coming to make a little vacation out of it). So you are pretty much guaranteed sold out shows for every night. It's been done in the past...so please bring back the multiple night run at Dewey Beach! Thanks Dark Star :)

If cornfed is correct saying DSO at Dewey on Monday August 3rd and Tuesday August 4th then ..

it would be nice if it was the chaser of Friday July 31st and Saturday August 1st at Pocahontas State Park ....

with in the middle of that sandwich another Sunday at the Wolf Trap ... which would be August 2nd ...
