qquinn64
Thank you sooo much for the live stream of last night's St. Louis show! I wasn't able to make the Milwaukee show, unfortunately, but got my "fix" last night. Jeff played that new guitar (TB500?) like an old friend and the sounds he created with it were awesome. Well done!!
Forum MVP Michael Doc Watson Posted February 10, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 Good morning Quinn, Welcome to the DSO forum. I'm sure you will find many interesting discussions and hopefully make some friends that you might see at shows. Concerning the new guitar....maybe someone else can give us a bit of back story about it. Does the guitar have some GD history as was being speculated Sunday night ? peace and Love, Doc
GermanShepherd
Who starts a thread with this title? Saint Louis, MO would have been appropriate. In any case, the Pageant last year left a very negative impression on me, but this year was different. Learning from last year, we arrived early and found a nice table to set at and have a few drinks pre-show. A quick pat-down, nothing serious. There were less people there this year on a Sunday night, so it seemed like there was just a bit more room enough to make it enjoyable. They had at least 8 craft beers on tap. Yahoo was streaming the show as a trial, so let's hope DSO is picked up full time. They deserve it. Wood dance floor, huge difference on the feets. Checking my review last year, Jeff played the Travis Bean here as well, so maybe it is a STL thing. There was a beam of light coming off the neck at all times. I think 3 of the band members are from the area, or at least the two drummers, as Rob K. announced at the end. Those crafts are affecting my memory. But I won't forget that I had a much better time as I had learned from the experience of being there before.
analog
Let me see I remember this correctly: Jeff has had a TB for over a year, which was purchased used. He played that guitar Friday night in Chicago. On Sunday he received delivery of a shiny new TB that was made just for him. There were originally four made by Travis Bean in the 70s, two of which Jerry owned (The enemy is listening sticker and one almost identical with a different sticker). Travis Bean's apprentice/assistant, in cooperation with Travis Bean's family, announced last year he would make 10 more of that same guitar - no more, no less. Jeff's new guitar is one of those 10 and was manufactured specifically for Jeff and was either made to the electronic specs provided by Brad Sarno or modified by Sarno, who has done all the electronic modifications on all the guitars Jeff uses in DSO. Forum MVP Evangeline Posted February 10, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 Concerning the new guitar....maybe someone else can give us a bit of back story about it. Does the guitar have some GD history as was being speculated Sunday night ? Welcome Quinn!! Doc, Jeff played on Sunday with his brand new TB500 that was custom built by Travis Bean, 1 of a series of 10, built as Jerry's, with electronic input by Brad Sarno of Sarno Solutions. He also has a used TB1000, so this is TB #2. I can tell you that he has always wanted this TB500, and we are all very happy to see him getting it and playing it! (I think "New Guitar Debut" is an excellent thread title, BTW!)
Muddy Waters
Brad Sarno is a STL treasure. An absolute gem of a guy and a musical Yoda. Brad needs to get his OWN band and play more electric guitar and pedal Steel so we can go see him. A talent like him needs to play out more and be seen. He is too brilliant not to.
