chinacatfunflower
So I so terribly want to make it to the jubilee this year. The line up looks amazing! Problem is OH is far from me in NY and I cant leave my puppers friend behind. I wish they were not so strick on pet policy. People who have been there before...are they really as strict with dogs as they say online? Have any of you brought your canine friends along to the jubilee? Any info would be gratefully appreciated:)
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted January 18, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 I don't think canines are encouraged or allowed. I would get in touch with someone involved in putting on this festival, but unless your dog is a service dog, I would doubt that they will allow you to bring your pup. Sorry if that means you can't go.
Forum MVP Rude Posted January 18, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 Dogs will limit your ability to see shows as well. This poor dog was with a guy in the middle of all the dancing and was getting stepped on. Inconsiderate human. So many people get service dog tags just so they can bring their dog everywhere and a festival isn't a place for dog imo. Evidently it's easy to get a dog registered as a service dog. The people I talked to said that they say they are training the dog so the dog isn't supposed to be away from human contact so they can get service tags as a trainer or something to that extent. Almost all the dogs there are for training and not actually helping someome. No one ever said wookies werent resourceful. And for that dude with his dog in the middle of hippie dancing, u are a dick. sudds94
My husband and I do a lot of traveling (DSO, etc) and have 2 dogs who we bring to our local kennel. They really get excited to go there (love it like a second home) and that way we don't worry about them while at shows, you may want to look into that for future travels........ Forum MVP Rude Posted January 25, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 Yep same people. The dog was just laying around not dancing. Likely drums/space.
Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted January 25, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 I know of a guy that brings his dog to outdoor colorado gigs. The dog is super well behaved and the guy is a dancing fool. I think his dog could handle the jubilee but I think you need a good deal of training for your dog to actually handle a festival environment. We have paperwork for our pup as an emotional support dog. It's so he can fly wit us. He could not handle the festival. He would be a major liability and disturbance. We will leave him with friends. Depends on the dog but festivals not really a great place for your 4 legged friend. Just cause you can bring them doesn't mean you should.
Forum MVP Rude Posted January 25, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 If u have a dog u shouldn't be in the heavy dancing pit area for sure. that was inconsiderate of the guy. No one looks down to make sure they aren't stepping on a dog and that poor dog got stepped on plenty. Plus the wooks let the poop lay as it stood. i never once saw a dog use the port a pottys. Likely b/c they were still shell shocked from the 2013 3-day overflows, but still.
sgrmag2564
It would take a special pup to be "behaved" during the jubilee or any other festy. Mine would almost certainly get lost or worse. During the day the stage areas are not too crowded and you could probably enjoy some good tunes down by the stage with a well mannered dog. For DSO, you might as well leave the dog in the car, which alone is cruel. Although I enjoy playing with dogs, I have had a dog my whole life and I think they are the best. I have to agree with the masses on this one, if you can leave him home, please do. Peace, Joe
