it was quite a treat to go and enjoy some well executed live dead music!! This band really has it sown up tight on so many levels.

We rolled in and found it easy to negotiate the way to the venue. Many places were closed or booked and finally grabbed some good food and drink preshow at Capital Ale. Nice selection of brews and nourishment. I tolerate beer if thirsty but they had some nice ciders available and fit the bill nicely. If I were in a slightly wilder mood and not driving home after the show, maybe, maybe I would have given the hop-infused vodka a whirl for giggles. Hops are surprisedly large, really just a huge 8 inch diameter spore!!

The venue is smaller than the Capitol without the nice spaciousness it holds for dancing in the back for when it heats up, up front. Nice crowd. I didn't have beer spilt on me and an avid deadhead loving group was around our spot.

Promised Land suggests a fun show in my book and the Sugaree that followed fulfilled the promise. After Minglewood I was itching for a TLEO and was nice surprise to actually enjoy it later. The first set standout was Playing-> Drums> Wheel> Playin. Really made the whole night. The Playin had a really nice jam to get lost in, to shed some of life's baggage and find a happy free space. It felt synergistic with the crowd. Nobody left stage really during drums and the Wheel was a big, big bonus!!! A Wheel out of space just suits my musical tastes. : D Unfortunately, it was really hard to hear Lisa and that bites she wasn't turned up. I love it when she vocally culls in the jam near the end of Playin.

Second set opened with our new friend Dave of William and Mary after an intermission reminiscing Dead shows from the eighties. The only song he remembered from his first show at 16 was Samson and it felt like an inside joke when played. There were some couples hanging close by and getting down in a big boogie space. really fun to share. FOTD was wonderful. Rob B really laid it out plain that this band brings out a heavy rocking boogie. Thanks Rob!!! Check out that one for sure. It was so hot up front we took a breather out where a couple of people were dancing (SUN!!!) in some space around the bar escaping in the slow down of Wharf Rat and we headed back in, seeing Mike along the way for a nice Other One. Just blissful at this point. Skip took the reigns and launched the TMNS and I am sure Rude loved that bit! it was mucho fun.

What a nice respite! Thank you DSO. You brighten the landscape of life. So happy we made it to dance around the golden glow of this amazing music.

Really smokin show from a favorite era. Apologies to those I flung sweat on and elbowed. The music won out over courtesy. I know it was sold out but I saw at least 3 or 4 people that didn't have somebody rubbing up against both shoulders. Minglewood, the playin sandwich, the wharfrat, all big highlights for me. The eyes was a dreamy symphony, I don't think I opened my eyes the whole song. Cool venue in a cool town, just too damn many people.

pS: great time with great friends! Love you people!

While I don't doubt the veracity of that statement, it strikes me as an interesting contrast between DSO tour and GD tour.  If you made such a statement about an upcoming GD show, you'd be high, and/or engaging in some seriously wishful thinking!

Most crowded show I've ever attended. They being said the crowd was as enthusiastic as any show I've attended. Seeing the Travis Bean Jeff was Playikg made me Instajtky think 76 b4 the show even started which excited me knowing it would be a dancer for the gf's 1st show. It did not disappoint. No one was talking in our area which was great, but the excitement was palpable. Chris continually brought a smile to Meili with his enthusiastic dancing next to us and midway 1st set she was full blown grooving. She noted that it was hard not to be in a dancing mood with all the crowd energy. Beginning the day I had a 100.8 fever and thoight my night Woukd be ruined, but I managed to dance as hard as the space would allow the whole night.

Was really great seeing PG at the show as well as sharing a suite with lots of friends. Unfortunately being ill, I left all my energy at the show and had little left for after show festivities.
