Palace Albany

I don't think I have missed an Albany show in 7 maybe 8 years and it always seems to get better. Anyone that has not been to this venue is missing out. First off the staff/security is super cool. I think the sound is the best I have heard for an indoor venue and room to dance!!! Last night 9/15/87 MSG. Now I would prefer on most nights to hear anything before 1985 but last night was spectacular- Everything! Couple highlights, China Cat/Rider, Filler Shakedown brought it all together. BLACK PETER!!!!!!! Jeff played at times with what I perceived as desperate angst that this song represents for me. Notes roaring with intensity and vocals that convey the sublime sadness of impending and preferable death over painful existence. All this with a simple yet soul carving realization that death/life are both the same, everything lead up to this day just like any other day that's ever been... Leaving this listener with remembrance of blood, while sweat and tears poured down to a shit eating grin  :D

So you don't miss the Egg much, huh?

That's well said and pretty evocative, Brian! Glad to get reports of the fire being brought down from heaven. And Eyes sounded pretty good over my own private phonecert. Thanks for the memories!

Very well attended show. 2nd set smoked as did the very, very, very long Shakedown. When RB said they had time for one more and it was only 1125 pm I knew it would be a doozy. I was in the Skip zone up front and he was dropping bombs all over that place. I take that 3 plus hour drive up every year, and for those who have never been that place is right up there with Penns Peak and the Cap as far as East Coast venues DSO plays. Dr. Vapor has it in his top 5 in the country. He's been all around this world with them so I respect his opinion.

A very bizzare moment occured during the Sugar Magnolia a girl jumped the stage and was dancing front and center for a few minutes. Security was so enamored with the music, that they spaced on it , Nicky and Will had to come out and calmly escort her from the stage. It was quite the trip.

The sound in that theater is pristine, and even knowing what I was lined up for based on the lists, I didn't care because that venue is so nice. See ya in Morristown. That's lining up nicely. YIPPEE!

It ranks up there as one of my favorite east coast venues (sorry, Starland) but my heart belongs to the Canyon Club and our shiny new Brooklyn Bowl. And of course Dr. V's opinion carries much weight.

I almost feel a poll topic coming on, if anyone has that much initiative.

Great venue! What an amazing show. They tore up china > rider. Dark star always takes china > rider to an insanely outragious, mind blowing level. When push comes to shove was superb too. and that eyes! Man oh man great music made this night. First time at the Palace but it officially is a yearly tradition i look forward to :)
