Forum MVP Michael Doc Watson Posted November 6, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted November 6, 2014 This week the volers of Washington DC approved the legalization of marijuana. You can have two ounces and up to six plants. Now this won't take effect until somtime in the spring, One news article said maybe April, so don't jump the gun and get in trouble. Also it is possible that our US Congress can put down the law. They have authority to over rule laws that DC sets up (apparently they have sixty days to tune it down). Also we still have the federal rules claiming grass to be a major class 1 controled substance. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. The DC rules seem much freeer for the individuals than the various states' laws in that everone can grow their own. From what I understand in Colorada etc only a very limited number of groups are allowed to grow the plant. They have are controled by the state, have high fees and taxes. In DC, it will be against the law to sell weed but you can give it away. I've always said I'm hoping for the day that we can grow it just like many people grow tomatoe plants....and every summer I have too many tomatoes for my family so I pass them out to friends and neighbors. Peace and Love, Doc
