I've danced at the Newport on more than one occasion. Elbows helped. So did Conway one night in particular.

As far as dependence goes, through bitter personal experience I have found the DSO Subutex. It is called a "job." That treatment is perhaps not for everyone, but too much of anything is too much.

I certainly appreciate the fact that the band comes to the Midwest at all at that time of year. I personally think they would be better served to do a southeastern tour before Jamaica and then do a longer Midwest tour in better weather just before or after the Jubilee. No doubt February is a tough time to travel in the Midwest for band and fan alike. It is just difficult for people here in the Midwest to see the band playing so many dates on the coasts and so few here, where many of us have been going to see them for more than a decade. I have four kids and a wife that is kind enough to give me a pass for my passion a few times a year, so the shows within a reasonable drive are very precious.

Not to be rude but you guys sound like a bunch of whining millenials lol.

Life, job, children and other excuses means I did not see 300 dead shows or DSO shows. Only 122 and ~210 respectively. As mason said put your big boy pants on.

As the poet said "you can't always get what you want"... He also said " you make a dead man cum" so take all this for what it's worth.

Only one city in Florida? The Cold Star Orchestra has seems to lobe the cold rain and snow. I Was hoping for our usuall once a year St. Pete show. It's sad that I can't get out and see the band more. I'd figure bands would want to tour the south during the winter months. Looks like a lot of us Florida Starheads will have to hold out till 2016. Ha all keep up the music and dancing. Take care everyone.

KDub makes a worthy point.  Yeah, we know there's lots of logistics, and I'm sure that many of you know more than I do about how that sausage gets made.  That said, KDub is still right.  I had a boss once who urged our sales team to sell onsite consulting "South in the winter, North in the summer, Hawaii anytime".  (...or Jamaica, as you wish)  That guy was wise.  Even so, much like DSO, our beloved salespeople sent me regularly to Minnesota in Februrary, Florida in August, and Hawaii never.  Bless their little hearts for making sales at all.  Likewise bless DSO for playing anywhere and everywhere.  I rarely try to speak for everyone, but I am sure that I do when I say "Play more shows close to me!"

:D cheers all

If you build it they will come ....

folks - you can't always get what you want ....

the band will play where the band will play .... put on the big boy pants and accept it ....

they are trying to make as many heads as possible happy .... not just a few who post on the board ... or the few who already go and see multiple shows a year anyway ....

with that said .... will I see anybody in JAMESTOWN, NY in 2 weeks on Nov. 14th ??

and a shout out to Mr. Goat for the ticket hook up ... we have never met but will some day .... nothing like being kind

Sooooo I had a crew of first timers ready to go to the Covington show last year that was cancelled due to weather. Working towards another attempt this winter. Was looking like the Sunday in st louis but due to the travel demand of crab legs by one in the group now we are leaning toward Friday in Columbus. Casino on Friday night = crab legs. Have never been to a show at the Newport and was wondering what to expect. Does Friday nights=packed house? Sellout maybe? Also I find it weird that the casino doesn't have a hotel. Travel partners aren't big deadheads but are married with young children so they are thankful for the 24 hour break regardless of activities. But travel>crablegs>DSO show>boozin an gamblin>Snooze>travel reprise. Any info or tips greatly appreciated

Newport is a dump .. but a dump us Buckeyes just love ... located on High Street in the heart of campus this show WILL sellout ... get your tickets asap ... a Friday night show when school is in session ... 55,000 students .. enough said ... balcony will be open and that is the wsy to go ... the lower pit is for the strong willed ..

I will be at the show ... Casino nothing to excited ... decent drive from the venue ...

Speaking of Covington ... how is that venue ?

I am doing Cleveland Indy Columbus and Birmingham ... thinking about going to see Kentucky play at Rupp Arena on that Saturday instead of DSO show ..

Not a fan of indoor packed shows anymore and will face those in Cleveland and Columbus no question ... Indy on the other hand is a big big open room ... the Colts can use it as an indoor practice facility big ... love that venue

So Covington venue layout is what ??

Guessing Covington will have plenty of room to move. It's on Valentine's day which will kill it for me and likely others and the area isbt a dead hotspot. If weekday Id predict 50% capacity or less. St. Louis is a good dead town and weekdays they are 50% capacity from the shows I've attended.

Edit: Covington is a Saturday so ignore above lol

I think Cov on a sat will also be pretty full. Low pit, middle with bar and balcony. Some long rows of tables seats in balc and maybe middle layer also. I arrived late 2 yrs ago and couldn't even sniff the lower level and retreated to balcony pretty quick. I'm picturing the same layout in Columbus. If

anyone has been to both, are they similar?

But I did forget about valentines day
