GratefulKate13
Tonight's show was a twirling escapade through the grateful deads repertoire. From the second the music started, the weight of the notes fell around us like a thick rain of morning dew. The first set rocked, hard, and was delicately outlined by the gentle beauty that is Russian lullaby. It was a good thing they reminded us to keep our day jobs because as first set ended I was considering returning to my old one. Second set, sandwiched between rocking not fade away's, was a touching, team building dance party. Killer drums and crazy space had me thinking about the long term health of my ear drums, but the energy carried right through the set and if it weren't for the monster days between keeping me grounded I might have simply drifted away. Other days have had me agreeing with going down the road, more than today. I can wait to truck to the next show. Thank you! For a real good time.... Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted October 10, 2014 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 10, 2014 Thanks for the setlist, Jeff! Do open with dew, do!!!!! Such a pleasant way to begin the night! A guy had been playing dark star jams on the bench outside and he actually got me going before i ever went into the show! We had great sushi pre show cause Aric was a sushi chef and knows how to talk w them in a way that got us some of the fattest cuts ive ever had. Tasty way to start the evening. Dew got us all swaying around but bucket got the place going. Incrediable energy and joy all about! RR blues continued the million note a minute vibe and our feet fought desperately to keep up! By masterpiece i think Aric started dancin w me and i was overjoyed to have him there to hold and dance and be silly with. Plenty of room in front of the keys all night for anyone who danced thru. We all got loose w lucy and i started marvelling in very serious contemplation about just how DSO can get better with every note they play. Its a lil intimidating! Sometimes overwhelming! Especially Skips way of tangling up my hips into my feet and hands and confusing my body as to which parts can physically go where since what i think is me keeps breaking apart and floating away on those thick bass lines. Very satisfying uncle mama (how california! Lol) but when Russian began i fell into pieces. Was played at the Aspen show i met Aric at a few years back and we swooned thru it. Think it was my fave i have heard. Really went looking for that land thats free for u n me and i think they found it for us! Nxt time u see me was not on the bands setlist, but it came in so perrctly and got the dance party goin full swing once more. Jack straw was really beautiful and highly inspiring and the day job had everyone laughing out loud as they twirled. Great set!!!! Second set was just plain roaring with electric light from one end of the rainbow that cant fade away to the next. Touch really got me off and inthink everyone was feeling some deep elation. I looked at Aric when they hit a note tuning n said sailor st so when they started a min later i was really satisfied. Really good dancing and phenomenal playing. Guess we were all going to go for eyes for sure cause by then the whole room was a swaying, leaping, flailing circus of joy. Reslly great drums space, super dancable drums and mind numbing jaw dropped trying to relocate limbs and mind space. Amber asked if they ever play songs ive never heard n i had told her "not so much anymore" but hey, thanks, cause i dont recall the last time except on a very distant plane.... So ill call it my first time!!!! Hehehe. Gimme some lovin made my heart and arics beam the biggest giggling rainbows into ea other and i was stoked on the delayed ballad after space. When days came it blew me away. Could barely call it a ballad, it was more just plain swirling haunting longing that was almost frightening in its majestic splendor. Niiiice one! Melting all conceots of soul. Gdtrfb back to NFA was so blessed after such an incrediable night. They really rocked the house start to finish and midnite moonlite sent us home riding the last good mornings sunrise. So many good friends and so much space with really kind security for such an excellent show made it a night i will prolly not forget! Tanks bartender for the pen, after dew bucket RR i was gonna forget it all lmao!
