John, T,

I can't speak to what your ears hear and your heart and soul make u feel, but 49 seconds into the hey jude of 89 hampton, there is a sound that absolutely blows me away. Sitting here listening for the 9th time crying my eyes out. Bobby steps in with a back up, while Brent produces this hum with his tools, that just brings me to my knees. It really all starts with hey Mr. Fantasy Man. I guess the transition is what burns me inside!!! Yes. Perhaps the other shows mentioned have better quality in the whole of the songs, but I always loved the transitions between life and reality.....please mr. Fantasy....play me a tune...something to make us all happy!! What is happiness? Take us out of this gloom.

I can say that many of you know the music much better than myself. GD was never and DSO is still not a band that i measure through thought. It's all feeling for me. None of us can measure nor control the feelings of others, I wish....my God how much I wish!!!!

I thank u two very much for throwing out other dates to listen too!! Thank you for suggesting other dates to enjoy!!! Thank you for bringing about my listening pleasure for these shows again!!!

Thanks for still loving the only constant in my life except change!!!

That's good stuff, sun.  I especially love the phrase "Bobby steps in with a back up, while Brent produces this hum with his tools, that just brings me to my knees" - and of course its underlying sentiment.

Erg, I missed the second night of Hampton but I did see the first night which I have to say the Help Slip Frank blew the ceiling off. Everyone was floating on a cloud. The mood was something big was going to happen and of course it did.

Inspired I listened to the Dear Mr Fantasy ->hey Jude from Alpine and Hampton. Of the two, Alpine in my humble opinion rocks out. It may be the context in which they fall. The Death don't Have No Mercy at Hampton is just brilliant. It speaks to how I saw the Dead: commanding experts who had honed their craft. Jerry sings his heart out and Bobby picks up right in line. It is blindingly powerful. China Doll at Alpine for me crystallized out off Space like a kaleidoscope. So after that sweet delicate tune, Brent sings powerfully and the guitar/ piano interplay is sublime, just pure melding. Wow! The boys all compliment each other so well. Coming out of DDHNM however, the brevity of the song before I think tempers Brent. It is great nonetheless and despite the reverb in Hey Jude they bring it home in Hey Jude.

Is that really a question Rude? Day, week, month, year did not clue you in? I know jabs very well..to very fucking well!!!...thanks for the chime in, and I will consider the remarks as part of your character!!! Please re-read above comments! I am no scholar...obviously, but what sentiments do you think John referred to? Since you approached the subject..please tell us all what you think he means!!! I would love to know and not try to discredit your opinion by chastising your core!!!!! This unfortunately is not a place for me to be....oddly enough...Part of the reason I fell for GD was for the openness of expression....oh well....

Sunny, I thought the underlying sentiment was the absolute love you have for the music. That is how I read your comment. I don't know others here but having met you in Blk Mtn, Sunny, your love for the music is irrefutable and colors in your posts for me.

Thank goodness this is a place full of kind people. Evidently, I need a bigger screen on my phone because the spell correct put in Jeremy instead of Jerry in my earlier post. Lol

All the guys here are gay for the grateful dead. I'm a nerd and a geek for this shit. I pride myself on the amount of hours I've spent studying and listening to the grateful dead.

I don't believe there was any any intention to be derogatory or combative on JohnA's part.

9/7/69 today. I've heard from same other dork stars and dead nerds that it is smoking.

I'm confused.  Confused generally about what happened in this thread over the past 24 hours, and confused specifically that anything I have said in this thread could be read as derogatory or combative.

WTF?

I didn't see anything derogatory. I could see an insinuation that he's gay in your post if I really wanted to read in to it. People today may still get offended by that insinuation. I don't believe this was your intent. I too looked for a post of someone actually taking a shot and found none. I think this is a case misunderstanding.

I spent some time last night reviewing the subject posts, pondering them and engaging in deep textual exegesis. As an objective reader I too found nothing that posited anything other than a favorable comment on the strength of Sun's undoubted love for this music.

I believe that what we have here is a failure to communicate.

MC, that's an odd one. Some of Jefferson Airplane sits in. I think jerry sings JBG. They do a whole hodge podge of weird tunes.

You might be listening to the night before. Or I might have my dates mixed up. Does jerry sing lead on good lovin'?
