Grand Lido Resort

Hello! My wife and I are interested in going to jam in the sand in February but after some quick research, I am somewhat skeptical of the grand lido resort.. There are a good amount of negative reviews on trip advisor and their website/Facebook page doesn't show too much about the place. Anyone know more about this resort??

I read some of the reviews on the past jits.. it sounds like a real good time! Thanks :)

consider the source, of the reviews. they certainly are not from people who have attended concerts at grand lido.JITS 3 will be my 4th trip to grand lido . My wife and I love this place. the staff could not be nicer. rooms are more than adequate, just maybe not 5*. the food is very good, and your choice of beverages is endless. on top of this, shows on the beach, are the cherry on top. very chill, very relaxing, I would recommend this trip, especially if you love DSO.  just my 2 cents worth. p.s.- also a grate beach !

That is good to hear. I know not every place has all good reviews but the negative ones always make me worry. It looks like they may be renovating in the coming months as well.

Our first DSO concert was Friday at Stage AE in Pittsburgh. We were definitely impressed with the performance. They announced the JITS trip at the show and I told her we could do that as our belated honeymoon and she agreed so I started reading up on it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Are you going to the Grand Lido for an all inclusive 5 star island paradise get away?

or

Are you going to the Grand Lido to see Dark Star deliver selections of your favorite music on the beach with unlimited drinks and not a care in the world.

If you want the first, PM I have some suggestions.  My dad took me to some really nice 5 star resorts in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda.  If you want the 2nd, then DSO Jam in the Sand III is no doubt what you want.  I don't believe you will find the food or accommodations to be subpar but the music experience will undoubtedly be 2nd to none.  The best dance experiences of my life.

In a way, I guess I was looking for both. Granted, a "music festival" isn't really a paradise getaway, I was just thinking for that price, the resort and food would be above average.

After the show at Stage AE, I can only imagine what we would experience in Jamaica on the beach! The entire lineup looks sweet too. I have been reading up on Negril and it sounds like my kind of place.

I am a sucker for the negative reviews on sites. Everytime I want to buy something or go somewhere, I sort the reviews by negative and read them all. I know when people are pissed, they tend to overexaggerate some of the details but if you keep seeing the same problem come up, it may be cause for concern. I am leaning towards giving it a go, the wife and I are looking at pictures now B)

Usually I stay in a tent when I go see DSO, and if I had to stay in a tent in Jamaica I'd think that's awesome. If grand lido were a 1 star it'd be an upgrade I'd be pretty happy about. As MC stated, decide what's important and let the rest fall like rain.

Will offer a for fact opinion on the resort later. Been to many of places...As most of us have, but coming from a person who did not sleep for 4 days and experienced all the resort has to offer...I feel like a quality critic! !! But for now. If u got a chance....fucking go. It really is family time at JIS!!!

Quick run down.   I have no time to breath at moment, but I understand the excitement of JITS!!!!!

The reviews you read are absolutely fucked!!  I read them all too, and the people that wrote them are in a different state of mind, if not life than those that love this music!!!   The food was great, at least it looked good, I was more partial to the red stripe and dirty banana drinks.   I promise, the DB drinks are fabulous.  The rooms are nice!!!  Yea, its a Caribbean island, so perhaps there will be a bug or two in your room.   Fuck, there are in my houses, and I tend to be much cleaner than I am at shows!!!!

The staff was great, and very responsive, unless you want liquor between 4-7am.   I know, bummer, but if you got half a brain, you know how to stay lit when others are down!!!!

The bathrooms are great, and yes, hot water after the show was in short supply.   Your in Jamaica, very hot and sweaty after the show, so if the warm water is what kills it for you, than that's to bad, cuase the music is restless and hot!!!!

The resort is great, safes (locked safes)in every room, locals don't F with you, and you are literally part of a grand family when at JITS.   Access to band members, access to others behind the scenes, as long as your cool, which I admit, I was not always in JITS, your in heaven.  But, I was still in Heaven even when I got called out for F-ing up!!!

I can not tell you what a special experience and place this is.  You have all your pleasures, and than some!!!!   If you get bored, get a day pass to the resort next door.   Some secrets I keep to myself, but I can say that if you got the funds, your time will not be anything but exotic, fascinating, and surprising!!!!

I probably know that resort better than some of its workers.   Ask others that went last year, and they will vouche for that truth.    I laid prints on every inch of that resort, and never received anything but kindness, even, as I said, when I f up!!!

It is a trip you will remember for a long time!!!   If you have any questions shoot me a pm, and I will follow up when I can, but I can honestly say, if you can go, don't think twice!!!   I made some lifelong friends there, and even got hit on by a porn star.......lol.............some of you know why I laugh at that!!!!!

No, the bad reviews of the resort are from people that are probably so stiff, you can stick a piece of coal up their ass, and in two days of compression shit a diamond!!!

laid back, and the last night, my god....the fucking outside dinner......First class, top class.   I would sleep in a ditch for DSO, but I have also stayed in English Castles, The presidential suite where they signed the treaty of Versailles......you can guess what president stayed there, (yep slept in the same bed, 1500 a night) and why they called it the presidential suite.   Villas on the Italian Coast, and Austrian and Swiss Chalets at elevations that blow your mind, plus a helicopter trip to get there!!!!

Yea, I promise, I am a straight shooter, unfortunately at times, as it gets me in trouble, but there is no beating around any bush with me!!!

Its something you will savor for a lifetime!!!!!   If I did not have lawyers, kids, and a other half that---never mind that, I would be going again.    I did get a miracle ticket for that event, but I split it with someone else.   So I did kick down funds.....nevertheless, its a experience I will treasure more than the aftermath that followed with the other one (half:})!!!!

Put it this way, if you can go---go---If your thinking about it, don't think any further, if you want to go find a way, if your going to loose your family over it, might not be such a great idea, but some risk a lot for these experiences!!!!

Hope that helps!!!!!

Wow man, nice writeup!

At the time, I was focusing only on the negative reviews; There were far more positive ones that echoed what you are saying.

Seems like everyone here says the same thing.. JUST GO!!!

I'm 95.999% sure we are going to take the plunge as long as getting my passport goes well. We already have a sitter for the kids set up. Definitely going to be weird without them around. My wife will be a mess. She was a mess when we left them for a few hours for the DSO show in Pittsburgh last week lol

Something else I was curious about.

Is it really a 2 hour drive from the airport to the resort?

I guess it will be cool to take a nice long trip through Jamaica and look around.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond, hopefully we'll see each other on the beach :)
