Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted April 17, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 WHOA now….. WHOA! imma just post what the setlist i grabbed from Jeff said cause to tell u the truth I am pretty sure it was exactly as printed but if any differences happened I can't tell you…. show was WAAAAY to good! new orleans althea passenger you win again chinatown shuffle all over now peggy-o tom thumb good time blues btw might as well jack straw>run for the roses sailor>saint>foolish heart>drums>space>UJB>black muddy river>sugar mags mighty quinn THAT was ridiculous!!! my usual experiences in this area are pretty intense and wild but tonight….. it was like junior prom and everyone wore their shiny best selves and the DANCE PARTY that just happened in Eureka was THE BEST of the WHOLE TOUR….. looking at that crowd….. so FEW people, really, in such a perfect little shitty venue with a killer dance floor and a gymnasium sound (I LOVED this sound, it made it so authentic, like in the tapes!!! lmao) it was like getting dosed at prom and seeing your teachers all getting down with you…… i dunno….. it was cool, dudes. i wish a lot of you had been here….. it was NOT ONE TO MISS, as so many shrugged it off as. EASILY the best overall vibe of any show the whole tour and the SETLIST and the way they played was so ridiculous….. wow… full review tomorrow and catch up on those i missed…. kiss kiss, I leave you with a quote from a long time DSO follower that recently said after their first experience in a psychedelic SF weekend "with *!* this is a whole new band!!!" hahahaha…..i think the good times are definitely rolling!!!!!!!! kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss see all you shiny vibrant faces in oregon!!!! Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted April 17, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 I would be careful speaking about the whole tour when you weren't at the first 5. The kids in AZ may get upset. I'm glad you had such a great time. A wise man once told me its a marathon not a sprint and you can't do then all. See ya in Portland

Pdxhead
The pattern unfolds. If I just plug the set lists into my Analyzer, it seems fairly obvious that they will be performing as ACDC tomorrow night in Portland. Jeff Mattson will perform as Angus Young, and will be wearing a school boy uniform. They will open with "Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap." Strange but I have to go with what the Analyzer says... Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted April 17, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 It appears they will be singing as an encore last show Westerly swing Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' "Don't Leave Me this Way"....t"this fire you started down deep in my soul. Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted April 17, 2014 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 ummmmm…… arizona is cool and I am sure the shows were AMAZING….. but you just wish you were here, dude. I mean, I wish I had been THERE lol. besides, if i am speaking about "tour" it is obviously only about the shows I attended, which is already carefully documented here on the forums and if you wanna think that I WOULD EVER SPEAK OF SOMETHING OUTSIDE MY OWN EXPERIENCE then I am concerned about what exactly you think our experiences are made of to begin with……. so, sorry for not making the statement sound more true based on an objective state of being, but I was just subjugated to a show that pretty much confirmed the goodness of the entire universe and the path of liberation from suffering became a little place by the waterside where the children gathered after walking down the black muddy river alone for oh so very long. I lack objectivity. it isn't real. and HEY now, it's only the women with their pants too tight we can't trust, and I wear overalls and skirts so I think we are all on the level here and now that we have established that you can trust me just let me tell you that I CRIED TO SUNSHINE DAYDREAM because this show was so powerful and fun! there were headie mamas with their babies asleep in their arms dancing round the room and during sugar mags I got super overwhelmed by the family, I mean like FAMILY vibe going on in this place that before has been NOT that so often so as i sobbed in joy to SSDD I gave thanks. I realized that as these babies dreamed this magical show was happening in their dream and we were all blessed enough to pass this one on good and proper. SO KIND. so very very grateful. gotta get my space together to do some proper reviews, but Rob B's foolish heart solo is still prancing through my head and that that UJB was particularly UNDONE in all the best ways. in that it completely broke my soul open in the best way!!! this set lists was planned in a MASTERFUL way for this venue for this particular crowd. it was cooky and you never knew where they were going and it was like the ANTI TOP 40 show with all the ones that would qualify as top 40 at least in placements not so usual….. and they just had so much energy and even though Rob B had a screen (see, YOU BITE, Rob, NOT ME) in front of him so he couldn't attack the rest of the band as he sometimes does so we were all semi-safe…. but they won't cage Jeff in so, generally, we are all in danger. mortal danger of losing your ability to stay in your body! gratefully dying is such a blessing….. i want to say they did the "lets play each song in a diff era in a diff way" but it mostly felt really loose and 60s style with lots of raw energy even when playing songs from so much later. very cool. more later. Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted April 19, 2014 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 19, 2014 well…. Gabe ended up in the hospital on the day off with pneumonia from the humboldt haze but we made it to OREGON!!!! my heart is still kind of in humboldt though….. that show just snuck up on me with greatness and I really can't stop thinking about it. El Rey was my favorite, the fri in SF was the most INSANELY played showed, and the humboldt show was the best dance party of MY tour experience. although Sat night in SF and agoura hills were also some of those thank god we didn't miss em kind of shows as well. that is A LOT of having to sort out how each show somehow managed to be a top of the lister, but, hey, the music is just that good right now!!! DSO, I love you so much and I am so grateful that we can be here to hear this!!!! new orleans started the show off super silly and only half the people there knew what the song was and we all started going wild! there was a guy dancing that does the "splooge" (sp?) dance, like he is shaking/convulsing in such a way that he looks like he is coming all over everyone and it was AWESOME to dance near him and his magical spinning wife cause that was some REAL authentic expression of how great this show was. althea swooped us all up and I started feeling really weird, knowing that this show was not gonna be predictable in the least… but that is def a GREAT thing! you win again chinatown its all over now was about the most fun little trio of get down on the farm tunes I have ever danced to in a row and it was kind of absurd to be thinking that was the case. the most beautiful people kept appearing near me in the front and I realized we were gonna have a really special dance party this night. we brought 3 friends and they even danced with us most of the night…. that's RIGHT, I MADE UP with that crazy couple I was dating/living with in humboldt and we all went to the show together as one big happy family and it was SOOOO GOOD! Cody said he gets why I tour DSO now, as he hadn't gotten a show of this caliber from DSO yet (it happens)…. I was so happy that he gets it now and will be back for many more shows! I love those kids, it was so fun to have them with us….. it really is REUNION tour! peggy o was sweet and bouncy but the never trust a woman song really brought the house down for the first set. those humboldt kids were LOVING this!!!! the girls got sexy and the boys got puffy (like, chest puffed up) and it was sooooo cool! Rob B just nailed it so hard and we all got off! oh yeah, I LOVE getting TOM THUMB in humboldt because it IS THE COUNTY I go back to when i do believe I've had enough, EVERY time, so rock on, DSO, I want the recording of this show!!! during jack straw some kid came and was pushing all on Gabe as it got really frenzied and he pushed back and it became this really silly jack straw fight over a girl thing that wasn't real it was just really funny and showed how we were all victims of the bands musical whims at this point in the show. run for the roses brought everyone to there knees….. it was like the ONE SONG everyone wanted to hear that night though they weren't aware of that and when it happened the dance party hit one of its peaks of the night and plateaued there for the rest of the night. sailor was drifting and mournful and oh so appropriate and by saint the party refrenzied and the band had us in their palms. as I mentioned, the UJB, esp the jam, was super ridiculous and esp so because it came after such a perfect foolish heart! the black muddy river was a triumphant walk in solitude that I appreciated from a place so deep and wide that I know on the other side is always DSO. so grateful. such a good show. sobbed through sugar mags and whoever said they don't like mighty quinn encore is just CRAZY, it was the ONLY encore for a weirdly perfect show like this one. what a great homecoming back to humboldt, thanks you crazy hill kids, I love you! Forum MVP PoetryGirl Posted April 20, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 20, 2014 Hey, what version of Black Throated Wind was it? From the DSO.net it looks like they played both. Haha. Did you catch the lyrics at the end.....so I give you my eyes.....all of their lies or ....was it they were just a disguise. I had this discussion in San Diego. I wonder what Eaton picked.
