Damn...another ripper for sure.

Hey Mango:

I thought we had a deal man...I would give you $20 for each review but only if you reviewed all shows that you went to and the review had to be longer than one word. I'm afraid you haven't held up your end of the deal, buddy.

{When all else fails, try subtle coercion}

Alright. I went to the show last night. Local show, actually. I had school this morning and really wasn't all that excited for last night's show. Catalyst isn't a great venue at all, the floor being the worst part. At the start of the show there was tons of room. Typical santa cruz, no one shows up 1.5 hours after showtime. Highlights in the first set were cumberland, which was riveting, and big boss man featuring some nice harp work by Lisa. 71 isn't really one of my favorite years...I much prefer the more psychedelic of <1970 or the more polished sound of 72>. While I do relish in the opportunity to enjoy some Pig tunes, I find the setlists to be a bit predictable. Definitely a transitory period for the Dead, although I guess you could pretty much say that of any era.

I was definitely tired last night, and knowing I had to wake up early made it difficult to throw myself with abandon into the experience. I'm some people, or many, had an amazing show last night. I guess when you do many shows, especially in a row, there is going to be one here and or there which is a throw away. I'm not bummed, the band played great and there is always another show. Starting my journey to Portland tonight, skipping Eureka. Look forward to seeing you NW freaks. We need to work together friday night to carce some space on that bouncy floor....seems like a good crew. Maybe we can even pull Chuckvegas out of his back corner...

great show, great crowd, but can we PLEASE find somewhere else to have this show that is NOT one of the worst venues for dancing, sound and chi flow in the whole country?  felt like i was in a big cement bowl that was gonna get sprayed out to disinfect us any minute and it was weird.  sound was so loud near the front that it BLEW our ears out, wished I had brought the ear plugs, my bad, but if the venue had a proper sound set up it wouldn't have to be like that.

anyways, the show was a phenomenon I am grateful to have witnessed and we had so many friends there on all sides that it was really special.  the sad part about meeting so many amazing people at these shows is defiantly the days between…. i miss my friends when we are not all dancing together!!!!

from first set I particularly enjoyed the cumberland and OMG the second set with the other one uncle other one was ridiculous!!! the love light was particularly sassy and funky and in so many ways I was happy this show was over when it was, but at the same time, I was overwhelmed by not wanted to be away from all my friends.  oh, tour, so kind you have been to a wayward unicorn and her consort.
