My guy on the inside tells me the Crystal show is likely to be canceled or moved to a different venue if they are unable to fix the building in time for Friday's show. They had to cancel and evacuate last night's show, as they found a support beam had been damaged.

The Crystal hopes to put on the show as planned (see their statement below), but I was hoping Eaton or someone with the band could comment on this.

McMennamins Crystal Ballroom released the following statement about the incident:

Crystal Ballroom staff spotted the cracked beam during last night’s second performance of rapper Schoolboy Q and we proactively decided to evacuate the premises in order to safely assess the situation. While there may well have been nothing to worry about, our number one priority is the public’s safety. Structural engineers and city inspectors are coming to the building to ensure that everything is as it should be and we want to assure audiences that we’re taking every precaution.

We are offering refunds for last night’s show to everyone who requests one: ticket holders should forward their confirmation email to support@cascadetickets.com to expedite the refund. (Ticketholders for Stub Hub or other secondary outlets will need to contact those outlets directly.)

Meanwhile, we are working to make sure every concert on the calendar this week continues as planned.

We appreciate everyone’s concern and we will keep you posted once we have evaluated the situation further.

word from Crystal management:

I wanted to reach out and let you know everything is fine at the Crystal.
We had a big hip hop show last night and noticed a crack in a beam in lolas and called the show a little early.
We have had the architects and engineers in there today and we have already gotten it all fixed and the city has signed off.
I can imagine you may have been nervous after that Pollstar article came out (they never checked with anyone at the venue BTW) and I wanted to put you at ease.
There was never any real danger but we erred on the side of caution and have now gotten everything set.

I'm a big idiot. I put this post in the wrong topic a few days ago. I'm fixing it now. It made no sense where I posted it before.

The great thing about the set list for Pembroke Pines is that it is filled with some of the dead's most loved songs: Help>slip!>Franklin's, Morning Dew, Sugaree, Wharf Rat, Eyes, Terrapin, Estimated. It is really packed full of them. Glad the dead absolutely nailed it when the played it!
