I am huge grateful dead fan, but never got to see Jerry and the gang. I can't wait for tonight! San Diego House of Blues!! YEEAAA
topher44
Well then, proceed with an open mind and a willful ear, and you will be rewarded with the most amazing music from our heroes, team DSO. I must say that my first DSO show was at a crappy venue with assholes for staff, but the band made me forget where I was and who was around me on many occasions that night, taking me to places in my mind that I hadn't been since Jerry's passing. May you have the time of your life tonight, and hopefully this will be first of many such journeys for you. Enjoy!!!
Forum MVP Rude Posted April 4, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 4, 2014 I was late arriving at a way oversold Vic Theater and still had a blast at my 1st show. Was shoulder to shoulder and could literally not move but was like these guys are amazing and my vacation schedule has not been the same since!!!!! Forum MVP Dead duck Posted April 4, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 4, 2014 Not knowing what to expect, I Arrive early to a nearly empty Egyptian room. I walked right up to the stage and didn't even notice the room fill up behind me. The Stella blue set the hook. By the end of the nearly 20 minute alligator filler my face had indeed been stolen. Enjoy the show
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted April 4, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 4, 2014 The smallest venue I ever saw the Dead was the Foxx Theatre in Atlanta (bout 3500, I think) but mostly 10-15k coliseums and stadiums. When I see DSO in a 1000 seat venue I feel transported back to a time before my time(80's) and it's fucking surreal. You are about to be born. Forum MVP GoingBackTo Where.... Posted April 5, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 5, 2014 Get ready to get blown away!!! The music is top notch, and even if you never saw GD, you will still get to experience the music in all its glory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris----3500 fucking hundred. I could never of imagined seeing GD in that small of venue. I was born to late, as many of us GD kiddies say!!! Back to first show!!! Suck it in, enjoy every ounce, and know you are hearing the real deal!!! Its not a cover, its a well orchestrated extension of the Magic!!!!!!!! Forum MVP GoingBackTo Where.... Posted April 5, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 5, 2014 You will be blown away. You might of never seen GD, but you will get the best of the music. These guys/gal put on a orchestrated event that is unmatched, even my the original creators. Bold statement I know, but DSO has a channel that allows them to produce sounds that is nectar to the soul!!! My first show......I was doubtful...waited 4 years to even give them a chance....OMG............I danced like I have not done in decades. People came up to me, and asked me what I was on, cause they saw my smile, and my dance, and just figured that it was something other than the music!!! No........its the music, and it is absolutely cream of the crop!!!!! Enjoy your first show brother.......you will not find a better sound anywhere in this world at any given time!!!!!!! DSO is special, be part of it now while you can still get small venues and up close. Years to come, we all will be bitching about the huge venues, and how we cant get closer to the music:}!!!! I bitch now about dance space, and its only going to get worse!!!! They are that good, and only getting better!!!!! EDIT: THought my first post got erased by 5 year old dancing to GDTRFB!!! oh well.......long day......nice to spout gracious words about DSO so I will not erase!!! I can not wait to spin again!!! Forum MVP Rude Posted April 7, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted April 7, 2014 Chuck warned of the jet plane thing and I was like catching planes to see concerts is nuts. Since then I have caught a plane just for shows and my show intake has gone steadily up and my entire vacation plans revolve around DSO lol. My DSO Anonymous sponsor told me no more DSO til Jubilee. Thank god it's west coast now.
the highway terror
2/5/2000 They did 11/7/87 H.J.Kaiser Aud., The funny thing about it is, no one who performed that night is in the band anymore. J.K. defecting to Furthur was the last of the original guys.

the highway terror
Sorry Vort, I didn't know you had been in the fold for that long. I just knew that there were a couple of other drummers for the first two or three years that the band was together. At any rate it was a fun show , are you guys playing at the Ledges this year ? I love that 1980s drums you bring out on occasion. Like the Orange Peel. Reminded me of Omni 1989 drum circles. BTW..... Thanks for the drum stick I got shown the light at Black Mountain this past fall.... Since then I have hit 5 shows. 2 east coast, 3 west coast. Not too shabby for a working mom. And expect 7 more by September. Wahoo! I didn't get down like this in college. Love you DSO guys. You have bright, shiny hearts. You are it and I would not trade the scene you bring for naught.
