Forum MVP Island Bro Posted February 6, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 6, 2014 [quote name="Tea for Texas" post= "According to Edbase (through 6/2013), Lucy in the Sky has only been played 1x since JK left. That show was 4/20/2010. For the life of me, I'm not sure if it was Jeff or Stu Allen playing lead. Someone out there will know: " Yes Tea,,,that 2010 west coast spring tour had Stu playing lead...some really fun shows in that period....I really enjoyed a "Stir it Up" opener on one of those nights... So I guess that means we haven't had a Lucy in the Sky with Jeff yet....hmmmmm...seems more than appropriate considering the undertones.... Cosmic Mike
Blues for Allah would be really cool to hear! It would be bold to play; I'm afraid you might lose a good portion of the audience. The song is meant for a particular type of crowd. The kind of crowd I'm most fond of. Forum MVP found Posted February 6, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 6, 2014 That's the payoff, but you really need the whole song to get the real effect.
Forum MVP Mango Posted February 7, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 I was there too. And THAT was my white whale. Still always super stoked for it, still kind of upset that St. Stephen went into Playin this past new years....I suppose I'll forgive eventually... D-No
Still waiting on a full JGB show even though I've seen most of the material live. Would love a Senor and surprisingly I've never got a Quinn the Eskimo.

JacksonPollockDancer
So even though it wouldn't be a real mind bender or anything, I think if Sisters and Brothers worked it's way into more originals I sure wouldn't mind hearing DSO play this one. What a fun tune. alot of JGB to be honest. Oh and deep elem blues! I would love an electric version of this tune! though it'll probably pop up as an acoustic first, though that sure as hell won't bother me none. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted February 9, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 DSO played sisters and brothers quite a bit 2008 and 2009. Theyve played deep elum several times as well. You definitely have the chance to hear them.
JacksonPollockDancer
I feel like with Dso we have the chance to hear just about anything. My first show was at the end of 09, on johns last tour at the e factory, so I guess I missed when they had it " in rotation". Oh well it'll pop up again. Forum MVP found Posted February 9, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 S's and B's was the encore at my first DSO show. I was hooked from the opening notes of iko iko. That was just the icing on the cake.
Forum MVP Mango Posted February 9, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 there was a time when they played that song to death, similar to "JGB" these days.
Forum MVP Island Bro Posted February 9, 2014 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 My white whale is White Rabbit. As much as they've played it in recent months,,they have yet to slip that one in for any NW shows...
JacksonPollockDancer
Well I think they should encore with it in Jamaica! Here's hoping. That hurts island bro! ducats
I want a Jeff Masterpiece. it's just a better song in jerry band. I, like, REALLY want this! there are almost no songs i didn't enjoy more at JGB than at GD shows, and obviously most of them were sung by the fat man at both. However, Masterpiece is one i didn't mind Bobby doing - it seemed to give Jer more energy when he chimed in (that Dylan collection-Postcards from the edge i think it was called is a good example) at the end
