Black Mountain

Anyone that had thought of going to these Black Mountain shows and stayed home lost out on a spectacular 2 night musical meltdown. First I have to say that DSO played with all the expertise, heart, energy and at times sweet soulfulness that this music deserves!

I loved the general vibe at these shows. The piscgah atmosphere is the best- mountains, friendly employees, and folks that know what flailing is about made theses shows a not to be forgotten experience. Sun read my mind, a 3 day event is just what I was thinking is needed next year.

I met so many good people on this short run that complimented our traveling crew. The after show love and laughter with good friends is precious and will keep my spirit full until the next shows.

Thank You DSO- Band, Crew, and all the players that make this possible!!!

Agree cnjBrian! Definitely a mini-festival feel to it. We got a minor scolding Sunday morning from the night security guard at the KOA about "some damn drum circles going on" at all hours of the night. I was thinking "how do you know about drum circles"? My wild guess is maybe 1500 Friday night and maybe 2000 Saturday night. Point is, pretty damn full and more came Saturday night in the bad weather. If they moved that fence further out into the grassy parking lot you could host 3-4000 people, maybe. Damn good times with Tea, Suny, Flairblair, Jammin on the 1, good to meet and hang with Rudedoggg, and a good hug from Masons child. Next year we do a full on invasion of the KOA and ALL hang together for THREE DAYS of music!!

I worked hard to find pockets that I could exploit, and that meant going through the crowd at times.   However, I saw you spinning Star, in just as much real-estate:}!!!!  It was a fun spin fest.    I loved every second of it!!   But than I get back to a campground where some full bearded hippy starts talking about how he is more hippy than another guy?    I busted out laughing, and walked away.   Can someone tell me what hippy is?   I still don't know a lot of things:}!!!!!

I am a full believer of room for dancers, but I do not understand the people that put up a row of chairs and a tarp on them, and do not sit in them all night?   Or the pregnant girl, who was like 6-8 months pregnant just sitting in the middle of a bunch of dancers (I know both Star and I got close to her at some moments---once I realized she was preggo, and not just dumb, I kept distance), like tons of tripping drunk dancers.   or the dude meditating right near the stage while people danced around him.  Or the people that put there stuff down on a felid where people are dancing.  why not by the fence?

Sorry----not to damper anyone, was just hoping some of these people read the forum, and think where they park.   There was so much room, and even better sound in the middle near the trees.

Really, just looking out for you guys/gals!!!   I have only fallen once from dancing, but I have seen plenty others fall. Just be aware of your surroundings and use good judgement:}!!   ALL HAVE FUN:}!!!!!

AS WE DID----THANKS AGAIN DSO------and fellow Heads:}!!!!!!

Nice finally meeting you Star:}!!!  and thanks again:}!!

+1 on the 3-show run!!!! OMG those KoA peeps will love that. Were u guys still up when the sheriff came up?? That security dude was a douche. We were quiet hanging by the fire and he starts threatening us by saying he will let the sheriff deal with us. The sheriff was after 10 peeps by the lake who didnt pay but I went to bed anyway. It did feel a lot like a fest atmosphere. Def returning next year.

You're not selling me on the KOA with this talk of the sheriff, but maybe we can all arrange to camp at the same spot next year.  I would love to see this become a 3 day event but 2 nights at Pisgah is still oh so satisfying.  I have a lot more to say later.  I was without internet or cable for a few days after returning home.  Internet is now a go.

KOA was great.  I never saw a sheriff, and no matter, people they visited were playing drums and being loud in the wee early hours. KOA was super cool, we all need that field at the end of the culda sac....we can set up and do what ever we want.   The one guy in the golf cart was labeled and named Bud.  he was nice, some of the others were asses, but at the same time, it is a family place, and party hippies at 3-6am making noise will bring any authorities, if not mad neighbors out!!!

Was a cool place MC, well worth a stay next year!!!    Would be kick ass to get all you guys/gals together in one spot.  I am always surprised about the people behind the names and forum personality.   No one is who I pictured beforehand.  Nonetheless, would love to hear some stories by a campfire.   So, me myself and I will make a mission next year to get all you together in the same spot.  I promise to make it a sweet spot, with help from the local NC/SC heads:}!!!!  I honestly think I could learn a lot from many if not all of you!!!!!

Still feeling the electric vibes, like it was yesterday!!!!
